Sabrina, on October 25, 2019 at 9:24 AM Posted in California Planning 1 11

Hello wonderful ladies...

For those of you that have gotten married or will be getting married next year do you have any recommendations on food catering? We are getting married in California 10/10/20 but i live in GA so I'm trying to find places online and set up maybe meeting when i go for a visit next month Smiley smile Also do you guys have a preference like plated, buffet or food truck?

I got married this year, but not in CA. We choose to have buffet style because it was cheaper. Plated was at least another $30 per person and that extra cost wasn't worth it to us. In general, I believe buffet is often cheaper.

Yea that's what it seems like so far...we are paying for our own wedding so we are trying to keep it on a budget! Thank you Veronica! Smiley smile

You're welcome 😊 Oh I totally get it. We paid for 95% of the wedding ourselves. We picked a place that did the catering themselves so we were lucky in that aspect that we didn't have to find a separate vendor.

I would look into Dave’s Catering, he’s very reasonably priced and amazing with communication! We haven’t had our wedding yet, but we did book him and we’re doing a tasting in December. I can send you his website if you like!

We looked at Richard Jones and Pit Stop. We ultimately decided to have soul food which is why we didn't go with any of them. They were both reasonably priced as well

We’re using 24 Carrots. Compared to the normal price of catering out here in Las Vegas (90-200 per person) they’re a steal! All together catering and bar will only be about $50-$60 per person. They also have a super extensive menu with different styles menus. Like Italian, southern, Asian, specialty menus with different kinds of food. It’s all super laid out and organized. Keep in mind, though, staffing is not included in the catering price. So that will help determine if you want plated or buffet style. Buffet style will be cheaper as it requires far less staffing than plated.

If you wanted something less traditional, In N Out has a catering truck ONLY is SoCal and the price is actually pretty decent! I think food trucks are a pretty cool non traditional idea for weddings and similarly to regular catering, you order and pay for how much food you’ll want/need beforehand. Food trucks can definitely be a less expensive route but they also can be more expensive so definitely try to get as much information from any vendor you’re looking at before deciding to hire them!
