Any other off shoulder sleeves brides out there

Amber, on June 25, 2019 at 9:34 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
My dress is off the shoulder. I absolutely love love love off shoulder tops and dresses so I had to have this dress. However ,after alterations, to make it less slouchy she had to take the sleeves in. Now I’m afraid to lift my arms up in the dress as to not rip it lol. I feel like I won’t be able to dance much. Anyone else in same boat?

I have the same issue! I love, love, love my dress (attached is a photo) but I don’t think that I am going to be able to dance in it either. So, I am going to buy a 2nd (cheaper) dress for our reception.

What do your sleeves look like? Are the sleeves or straps? Straps could be made removable!

I had off the shoulder straps. The only issue I ran into was raising my arms around my husbands neck during the first dance. And even that was ok just tight.

Hey Amber! I’m so happy that you have found a dress that you absolutely love! I haven’t seen many one shoulder wedding gowns. Do you have a photo of yours? It sounds amazing!

I’m sorry that you are experiencing trouble with movement though! Have you discussed this issue with your seamstress? There may be something that they can do if you make them aware of this problem.

Just went dress shopping and ran into that same issue with some dresses I liked, I ended up finding a style that had loose straps so I would get the same look that covers my arms a little bit but also have mobility. Here’s my dress. (Obviously that is not me in it) haha.

Im sure you look beautiful in your dress, you might not be able to raise your arms all the way up, but you’ll still be able to dance. Smiley smile

That’s pretty! Mine were loose at one point but she altered them so not slouch. (It didn’t look good on the dress) but I may just have her loosen them again or just not to the YMCA dance at my wedding haha

I'm not 100% sure how the straps are attached, but is it possible to have 2 attachment options? (i'm thinking like a belt)… so that you can put it on a tighter "notch" during the day and then put them on a looser "notch" during dancing?

Mine has cap sleeves and when I went to my alterations appointment this past weekend I realized that they are tight when I raise my arms. Ugh. Lol My fiance is 6' and I am 5'3" so it's going to be difficult dancing. I may change later on in the reception so I'll just have to deal with it until then. 😊

For my dress, I am using double sided "fashion" tape to keep my sleeves from moving off of my shoulder. Maybe they could loosen it up the sleeves and use the tape so you can dance? The tape isn't visible at all and isn't uncomfortable.
