Any Oregon or Washington people on here? Venue help!

Sarah, on December 29, 2019 at 12:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

We are planning to have a very small wedding (at the most 30 people, but probably more like 20) this summer. I have searched for venues on here, Here Comes the Bride, and on The Knot, as well as looked into parks and recreation related websites. I know what I am looking for however, it has been a struggle due to price (the lowest price I found for like a midweek wedding was $2,500 which didn't actually include much and had a ton of add on fees) as well as venues being too large losing the intimacy factor. I also noticed some places includes accommodation within the price for several people, but we don't need or want that.

What we want is to get married in the forest around trees and have the reception either at the same location or fairly close . We would love to get get married in Olympic National Forest (or even a local park...just want it to be in the forest)) and then do something like rent a dining room in a nice restaurant or ideally outside in nature . We don't mind either if the privacy is limited. No preference on doing this in the morning, afternoon, or evening.

Our dream location was to have our ceremony and reception at TreeHouse Point in Fall City, WA ($7,500) or The Emerald Forest in Redmond, WA ($4,000). We just feel like suckers spending like $2,000 or more simply for a venue which includes nothing for less than 30 people.

The most affordable option we did look into is Hoyt Arboretum in Portland but there seems to either be no bathroom or limited bathroom access. We also saw Laurelhurst Park which seemed like a good option, but we have some elderly relatives and it seems like it would be difficult for them to actually make it to a wedding that requires a bit of a walk.

Anyone know of a place that is reasonably priced for a small wedding that sort of matches what we are going for? Thanks

I don't remember their prices, but check into the lodge at Silver Falls state park in Oregon. I remember it being reasonable for an intimate small party.

The other one I just remembered was Leach Botanical Garden in Portland area. If we still lived there we'd probably be doing it there. Wooded, beautiful, perfect for an intimate wedding.

Have you looked into wineries? Here in Eastern Washington there are some gorgeous winery venues; some quite reasonable.

I'm going through the same thing except in SoCal! I wish you all the luck. It can be hard finding a reasonably priced outdoor venue for a small guest list. I feel your pain!

Yeah we have. They don't really fit what we are trying to do.

LOL we are in LA. We figured we could get the wedding we want in the Pacific NW and read that Oregon was one of the cheapest states for a traditional wedding, but we are finding it isn't as cheap as we thought it would be. Inn of the Seventh Ray sort of fit what we wanted and the prices were a bit high, but not too bad considering we wouldn't need to fly out and all that, but we thought the food sucked.

We are now starting to think it might be better to just rent an Airbnb with nice grounds that we can have for maybe 2 days that allow events (many of them seem to). Many places seem to be less than $500 for 1 night. We would have to do everything a la carte and most likely get a wedding planner for the day of. It's a little bit more complex.

We also saw the Courtyard in Grass Valley, CA. The rates are really inexpensive and we could have somewhat of a forest wedding on their property and then a reception outside or in their cave room which I kind of like (I'm like Bat Woman).
