I’m an older bride-to-be - but still young-looking and attractive. I’m 58, and this is my second marriage. While browsing at a gorgeous bridal shop, I asked the store owner what an ‘old lady’ should wear to her wedding. She replied, “anything she damn well pleases!” That set my mind at ease toward a wedding dress (I’m shopping 2nd hand) and not a boring conservative suit. (No offense to anyone - I’m just not conservative!) Are there any other older brides planning a wedding? I don’t think we’ll have bridesmaids or groomsmen, just our adult kids. We want a simple but beautiful and elegant garden wedding in our large island property.

Would love to hear your thoughts……

I am 45 and will be 46 when I get married for the first time in October. I want the whole kitten-kaboodle when it comes to my wedding. I've been planning it for a lifetime and damn-it I am getting my time in the spotlight! I bought a lovely ivory gown and a beautiful veil. It is all about what YOU want for YOUR wedding. Who cares what others think.... Glad to see so many non traditional brides on here.

I am 31 entering into my second marriage. I was widowed at age 24 so I know that my actual age doesn't say a lot but I have lived a hard life until now. We are doing a similar style wedding with only our children as our wedding party. And I agree wear whatever you damn well please and wear it with pride! Congrats on your wedding Smiley smile

Girl and you are a girl I'm sure at heart. You are able to wear what you want and what makes you feel spectacular. This is my second marriage and although I didn't want a dress with a train I did find a dress with one. This is my dress though I wish it was me in it.. lol not that thin.. My children are in our wedding, 27, 25, 24, 7, his 11, 9 .. yes 6 children the Brady bunch.. I just need to find "alice". here's the pic of my dress

I am getting married 2 days before my 39th birthday. I found a satin a-line bridesmaid dress (yeah for $180!!) that I'm ordering in a tan or dark ivory color.

I tried on dresses at David's a few weeks ago & was standing there in a gold lacy sheeth mother of the bride dress...while my 9 & 10 year old children critiqued it... when the manager came over & asked the consultant what happened to her bride. My consultant was like, "uh...this is my bride". Needless to say that was not my dress and that manager shouldhave been embarrassed!

I am 54, he is 47, my 3rd, his first - though my first two were just JP 'weddings' so this one is a for real wedding where my dad (who is 98) will walk me down the aisle for the first time. though we'll have a small group (current count is 30 w/some rsvp's outstanding, may go as high as 35).

    this is my dress -

http://watters.com/Product/WattersWatters/2252/#Colors:dove,cobalt,steel which i can't wait to try on this friday! the sample in the store was ivory but i had already decided on this blue/gray combo before hand.

my daughter is MoH in a blue dress, his best friend is BM will be in black suit and FH in gray suit.

wear what makes you feel/look good and is comfortable - after all your opion is the only one that matters, well and your FH :-)

I turned 56 on my wedding day. And as you can see from my icon, both my 41-year-old wife and I wore classic ivory wedding gowns.

I am 45 and this is my second marriage as well. I love the beach so we are getting married on the beach in Negril, Jamaica and I am wearing pink. Please Antonia, wear whatever you like and get married wherever you like. Your wedding is one of the few days you get to call your own. I am sure you will be gorgeous in whatever you choose to wear and your wedding will be wonderful. Congratulations and happy planning!
