Any Los Angeles area brides?

Lynn, on August 11, 2019 at 11:52 AM Posted in California Planning 0 12

We are struggling with finding a good somewhat last minute venue. Have already searched through Theknot, the vendors on here, and Herecomestheguide. I'm asking on here because maybe there are places that would be great for small, last minute weddings which we didn't think of.

We haven't selected a date. Ideally within the next few months. We're a couple who found each other later in life, neither of us have been married, and neither of us have children. I'm 38 and he's 44. We would like to plan ASAP upon getting married to have 1 child hence getting hitched ASAP (both of us come from traditional families and prefer to do things the old school way).

We were very close to choosing Inn of the 7th Ray simply because it's gorgeous, all inclusive, and just seemed easy, however there was one big problem...the food was awful. We also looked into Lawry's in Beverly Hills however the planner wouldn't give us the time of day, and was hard to reach. Looked into some beach restaurants but they were $$$$.

Does anyone know of a place that might work for us in in LA or somewhat close that isn't listed on any wedding vendor website? We ideally want a restaurant where we can have a ceremony and reception. We do not expect to have more than 50 people (if that...), and larger venues are just way to big for a party our size. We would like room to dance however we are totally fine with not having room for dancing. Just looking for a relaxed place where there will be great food, not a full day affair, but where it still seems like a wedding opposed to just a get together at a nice restaurant. Restaurants just seem to be the most flexible with dates in our experience when looking. We have no preference on a lunch or dinner wedding, and are okay with a weekday wedding (most of the people we would invite live in the area and/or are retired).

I know this is very specific but figured this might be a good place to ask! Thanks

I’m down in San Diego so I can recommend any place by you specifically...but have you looked at any local breweries? We have several around here that have great food and do weddings.

Olivia restaurant in Burbank is like a small banquet hall. They have amazing Greek/Armenian/Mediterranean food. I think it seats up to 100 with no dance floor and around 70-80 with a dance floor. It is all inclusive for food, linen, China, soft drinks, tables, chivari chairs, no corkage fee, no cake cutting fee.

Madera Kitchen maybe? I looked into initially but it was going to be too much for our 120 guest count. The space looks so pretty too.

You can check out Luminarias restaurant in Monterey Park. It is at the top of a hill overlooking LA. It's pretty nice.

We had a hard time with Lawry's BH also, we never received a reply from them. Disappointing as we celebrated our first anniversary of being together and a few subsequent celebratory dates there so it was one of the first we checked out. We had a hard time finding a restaurant for the ceremony so we booked dinner at a restaurant on Sunset and are having the ceremony at the Sunset Marquis hotel in West Hollywood. The ceremony is going to be super short so we aren't doing anything fancy, it wasn't cheap though but they have a great garden area that seats 50 for a ceremony and the grounds are awesome for pics. We are doing a Thursday wedding so that helped also.

    Monterey Hill Restaurant

My co-worker had her wedding here. Not a bad place, located right below Luminarias Restaurant.

I've been to weddings at the Reef Restaurant in Long Beach and its so pretty, especially at night. The Ayres Hotel in Manhattan Beach is also gorgeous and they do ceremony, cocktail hour and reception on site. Good luck!

If you’re open to Corona Del Mar, there’s a cute themed restaurant called Five Crowns that has hosted weddings. Someone on Reddit mentioned that at the time they were posting, they only charge for the food, no rental fee. They also have a nice garden.

Check out The One Banquet Hall, it was my original venue, the can accommodate up to 150 guests and are DIY (bring your own bar, cater, florist, etc) or you can use their service. Venue rental was about 4000 for reception hall and outdoor rooftop for ceremony. I had to change the venue, because my guest list needed to bump up to 200.

Have you checked with the Cheesecake Factory in Redondo Beach? We had our reception there, on a Tuesday. They have a private banquet room on the second level with views of the marina. We love the food there, as did our guests!
