I'm a say yes to the dress junky and I'm curious of the experience there is anything like you hear from some.

I'm sure it's nothing like the show makes it out to be, but I'm curious what kind of experiences people have had.

anyone?

I have a friend who taped an episode of Say Yes to the Dress at Bridals by Lori and loved it. She had so much fun!

I had a customer who was on the SYTTD Bridesmaids (Atlanta) and loved it. And my best friend (hair stylist) had a client who was on SYTTD (also Atlanta) and hated it. She said the producers coach and encourage the bridal party to be dramatic/crazy and that the stylists aren't as budget-conscious as they appear on the show. She said that they really laid on the pressure to go with more expensive dresses and add-on accessories. To me, that's just sales, so no big surprise.

The BM got a discount on her dress, I think I remember the bride not buying hers but was offered a discount as well.

I lived right down the street from Bridals By Lori when I lived in Atlanta and would see Monty at the grocery store sometimes. He was always buying bagged salad.

I had an appointment and whole weekend planned at Bridals by Lori. Found my dress before I got there though. They make it seem like you can have a $1500 budget, but when you actually make an appt they tell you $2000. They have a sale/budget area but straight up told me they had only one trumpet/mermaid/fit and flair.

I was engaged around 1992 and back then thought about going to bridals by lori because I have relatives there, and seemed like every dress I liked was listed as being available at bridals by lori, so I thought I might go.

I'm not surprised that they aren't known for being budget conscious since I'd gotten talked out of shopping there by relatives, said they were high priced. cost more for certain dresses that you could get elsewhere for less.

after seeing the show I understood. it's a fancy place and things like fancy furniture, runways mark up the cost of the dresses. all those 'free' niceties cost you!
