Any K1 brides?

MellaBella, on August 5, 2018 at 1:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

Hi! I haven't seen much about this topic on here but is anyone having to go through the K1 visa process and try to plan a wedding in the US from a foreign country? I filed back in January and just got approved couple days ago! I still have a couple months to go before I get my visa and enter the US to marry my love, but I just wanted to know if there are any other brides going through this and how are you handling it all (paperwork, waiting and planning the wedding). Also, will you have a traditional wedding or a courthouse ceremony?

    I am obsessed with the show “90 Day Fiancé”!!! I had never heard of the K1 Visa before that.

    I would think it would largely depend on the situation you’d be coming into when you arrive. It may be easier for your fiancé and/or their family to take the lead from here? It’s really up to the both of you re: traditional vs courthouse wedding. There is no right or wrong answer. I know you’ll have limited time once you get here. Perhaps you can at least get your dress before you get here? Just to scratch one thing off the list that you’d be solely in charge of any way.

    Happy planning and welcome!!! 😊

    @Cheryl&Rock Thank you so much!

    @Amarriedmann Surprisingly, I have never watched that show lol. I do see a few clips here and there on social media. My future MIL has been doing most of the planning from there (so grateful for her!). We already have the major stuff booked like venue, caterer, photographer etc although that is not encouraged because this whole process is so unpredictable. I usually see K1 couples just do a courthouse ceremony when they enter the US and have a nicer vow renewal/ceremony couple years down the line. But I don't think we should have to sacrifice a nice traditional wedding, it just has to be properly planned and very organized!
