Any ideas on Cookies

Shelly, on October 22, 2009 at 9:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

I want to make cookies for our wedding. We are expecting about 100 people. What kind of cookies should I make. Are there any popular cookies served at a wedding?

Well, not to be too obvious, but how about Italian Wedding Cookies?

I would definitely do chocolate chip and sugar cookies. You could also do white macadamia (sp?) and perhaps a chocolate cookie and toffee cookie. I work at a McAlister's Deli and we do cookie trays for catering that use chocoloate chip, sugar, oatmeal, white mac, and heath cookies.

Sugar cookies always go over great, you can ice them in your wedding colors

It is a like a sandwich tray but with potatoes. It is generally made with ham, turkey, and bacon (all separated and chopped up) and cheese with black olives and green onions as a garnish and cheese, butter, and sour cream. Our at McAlister's is called the Spud Max Bar. You can also use different vegetables and whatnot.

Oh I forgot to mention that the toppings (ham, cheese, etc) are kept in seperate containers on the table and people just pick up a potato and choose which toppings to put on their potato.

For our fruit trays, we take 2 pineapples, a container of strawberries, a bag of purple grapes, one canteloupe, 2 containers of strawberry cream cheese and one jar of marshmellow cream. We carve out one of the pineapples and use it to house the dipping sauce (the strawberry cream cheese and marshmellow cream mixed together) and we chop up the fruit from it and from the other pineapple. We slice the strawberries and chop up the canteloupe. We surround the dipping sauce with the fruit in a alternative light, dark pattern. You can obviously substitue whatever fruit you want. This usually serves about 25 people.

Oooh and another fruit dip that is sooo tasty!!! get a package of cream cheese and a small jar of marshmellow fluff. microwave the cream cheese in the microwave for like 10 seconds to soften it up, and mix in the fluff. microwave that all together for a few seconds, no more than a minute. stir it all up, refrigerate, and serve! soooo yummy...

And for cookies... try these for the healthier side... (exclude the nutmeg cuz itll give it too strong a flavor, and use half whole wheat flour and half regular white flour...) http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Heathers-Healthy-Oatmeal-Surprises/Detail.aspx

    or these... yummmmmm

We are having sugar cookies as one of our favors that will be at each guest's seat. We contacted a local bakery and they are making them for us - they will be iced in lime green (one of our wedding colors). If you want to save some money, you could go to a bulk food store and buy frozen cookie dough and make them yourself - honestly 100 cookies isn't as many as what you think. As for the kind of cookie - most people aren't picky....I would say chocolate chip, sugar, peanut butter, m and m, chocolate chocolate chip...make it what you and your FH like! Good luck! I have one of those pampered chef cookie spritzers and the butter cookie recipe it came with is wonderful, they are gone whenever I make them! If you have a spritzer (or you can buy one for cheaper at like Walmart) they are easy and yummy!

3 sticks butter softened to room temp (REAL BUTTER!)

    1 cup sugar

    1 egg

    1 t real vanilla extract

    3 1/2 cups flour

(decoration options, food coloring, sugar sprinkles, any kind of candy sprinkles, even frosting)

Mix the butter in a mixer until smooth. Mix in egg, sugar and vanilla and mix til blended (this is where you should also add the food coloring if you want colored cookies). Add flour one cup at a time and mix until well blended. Put dough in the spritzer and spritz cookies onto a baking sheet (no need to grease the sheet because the butter in the cookies will keep them from sticking). Sprinkle the sugar sprinkles on top and bake at 375 for 8-12 mins (till edges are just starting to brown). They are super yummy!
