Any brides that have WON a free honeymoon

Melissa, on July 24, 2017 at 1:11 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Hey guys, yesterday I attended the wedding expo in Los Angeles and entered a raffle to win a prize. The prize was two weddings bands, two wedding flutes and a honeymoon to a few different destinations. Today someone called and said I won and that I would have to attend a seminar to pick up the info to redeem the prizes at a Hilton hotel. Has anyone did this before and is it true about the whole winning a honeymoon thing? Or was there a catch?

I did it. It's basically a sales pitch for cookware or something of that nature. They give you demonstration, tell you the crazy high price, knock hundreds of dollars off if you buy right now. The sales person will double the vacation offer for the first couple who purchases that night. At the end you can say no thank you to the product and walk out with coupons and the voucher for the vacation. The wedding bands were not my FH's taste, nor mine. You have to pay shipping on the bands and flutes, but not a bad deal. I have 3 years to use the vacation, so I'll be saving up to pay any hidden costs (which I assume there will be). ETA: punctuation

It's a time share sales pitch. You'll sit through several hours of high pressure time share sales presentations but you will walk away with a couple night hotel stay with likely lots of strings attached like no weekend nights etc. I would skip it.

Everyone gets that phone call. I was super excited when I got it then I looked it up. Complete scam. Every single person "wins".

It's a scam, I got the same phone call that offered multiple night stays in different locations, all expenses paid if I did this, this and this.

You didn't actually win it's a timeshare sell. I went to one and got 2 free round trip tickets, I just had to stay at their hotels.

    Avoid...but:

I won a bachelorette/pre-wedding pampering night from a local resort/yacht club and a friend's fiancee did win an actual honeymoon to Mexico at one (and they didn't have to go through any presentation)

Is the company called Dinner4Two? If so, avoid. I agree with PP, everyone wins. You do have to sit through their sales pitch for cooking utensils and after I did some research, the utensils are sub-par, as well as the wedding bands (and they have reaaaalllly bad customer service reviews on BBB). Do you research and decide from there if you think it's worth it.

FH and I didn't have time to go so when I told them we were not interested, I received an email about a week or 2 after the phone call, and the email stated if we brought another couple with us they would receive the same prizes as us (Honeymoon, flutes, rings...). To me, that isn't winning, that's a complete scam.

It sounds like a sales pitch for the cookware. We went and my FH liked the ring so he got one from there. We haven't used the vacation yet but plan to

I used to work for a company that did this to sell you China, crystal and cookware. Like others said its probably either them or a time share company. Unless you are interested in either or you are really broke at this point and need the wedding bands, don't waste your time. The rings and flutes will be cheap and the vacation package will be difficult to use and have a bunch of restrictions that will make it practically worthless

I did it. They try to sell you their cookware which is super expensive. At the end of the night you just say no thank you and take home your honeymoon package.

With the honeymoon you have to provide your own transportation (flight tickets) and it is 2 nights. If you call the place they have an opportunity for you to lengthen your stay at a discounted price
