Any brides of Firefighters on here??

Its Taylor Time!, on July 10, 2016 at 12:58 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

My FH is a firefighter, so I wanted incorporate some simple touches into the wedding with it becoming totally tacky...

My theme: rustic/vintage barn wedding, colors are mint and burlap with some lace, and wildflowers for decor.

My fiancé is planning on wearing his class A uniform for the ceremony (fancy military looking suit) and we are also working with the local district he used to volunteer for to see if they'll let us have a rig at the wedding for pictures and such. I thought of buying a pair of red heels for those photos to match the Engine.

Any other other ideas? Maybe I should buy some vintage fire decor to go with the theme?

Thanks all!

I went to a firefighters wedding and they had rolled up a (new) fire hose and used it as a cake stand. It was really cool!

A lot of fire fighter themed cake toppers seem cheesy to me, but I kinda like this one.

The only thing I could think of (not a firefighters wife) was to somehow incorporate the red line. I've seen wedding bands that have a red line in the middle. I'm just drawing a blank on how you could incorporate red into the decor without it possibly clashing with your colors. Maybe a red strip of ribbon on your bouquet?

I had the grooms cake as firefighter themed, there are a ton of ideas out there, it was a rolled up house with his badge number on it, I also printed out a huge framed version of the fighter fighters prayer and at the bottom thanked everyone for coming, and said in Lieu of a favor we donated to the fallen firefighters foundation, many of the groomsmen were firemen so they brought their helmets for some photos, one of my favorites is his nephew playing with it, there are firefighter themed garters.

My FH is not a firefighter, but is huge into Superman. I didn't want it to clash with the colors of the wedding, so I'm going to have my garter be Superman colors.

You could do a silhouette cake topper of a bride and firefighter. I found this... https://www.etsy.com/listing/251503602/firefighter-couple-acrylic-wedding-cake?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=firefighter%20cake%20topper&ref=sc_gallery_3&plkey=63e24e0479e3764ac83a13eaeee03f470f3457df:251503602

You could also add charms to the boutonnieres and your bouquet that are firefighter themed.

My cousin is a firefighter and his wife is also, along with both being members of the honor guard. You already mentioned some of the things they did to incorporate that since its a big part of their lives...

    - freshly cleaned fire engine was brought in for photos

    - Bring turnouts and helmets for photos (They put their helmets on the guest book table)

    - She also wore red shoes and used red color in the centerpieces and as an aisle runner

    - One of their honor guard coworkers officiated and followed them back down the aisle with bagpipes

    - IMPORTANT - If you are inviting a lot of his coworkers, have the officiant make an announcement before the start of the ceremony to silence phones. There were a lot of on call people attending this wedding (Police and Fire) and they didn't want the ceremony interrupted by pagers and calls.

    - Sparkler sendoff - They made their sign as "Grand Exit - Light our fire"

    - Of course they also needed to have a fire pit during the reception, which seemed to be the focal point.

    Best of luck to you!

I'm going to be a firefighter wife! We are doing small things. We have a turnout jacket ring bearer pillow, going to have a topper, possibly an axe cake cutter, and he has a red line Qalo Ring! And maybe have some of our firefighter engagement pictures out Smiley smile

    Yay future fire wives!

My FH is a firefighter in Atlanta. We're adding small touches of firefighter things at the wedding. I made a guest book with some of our engagement session pictures that included his helmet and turnout gear. I'm also looking for a good cake topper, and I was thinking of surprising him with a firetruck grooms cake. Also for our favors I am getting little match boxes personalized, saying something along the lines like "you light my fire," or "a match made in heaven."

My FH is a dedicated volunteer fire guy- holding the rank of 2nd Lt. Right now. I'm so proud. We plan on incorporating some fire aspects into our engagement photos and I'm going to have a grooms cake made for him firefighter style. Unsure of other things to add because it can get real tacky real quick.

He originally wanted to get married at his firehouse in the bays...lol yeah ok babe

I am STRUGGLING! My FH spent 13 years in fire service before he was forced to retire after breaking his back a few years ago. Firefighting is his second passion besides being a father. He wants to wear his fireman’s uniform. Catch is that he wore it in his first wedding... I definitely want to incorporate his dedication and passion to the fire service and our state but I feel like a horrible person for not wanting him to wear his uniform.
