Any advice for hoop skirt?

FutureMrs.DAO, on August 27, 2017 at 10:54 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Im wearing an a-line/ball gown for my wedding. I had the shop add extra pieces of crinoline under the dress which made it poof out a little more. Im looking to get a hoop skirt so that it poofs even more and holds its shape. I feel like without the hoop, poofing out by hand wont last and the bottom of the dress will go flat against me over time.

Has anyone worn a hoop skirt under their dress or are planning to? Anything to consider? Here is a pic of my dress. This was poofed out by hand and I would like this shape to hold for the night.

I wouldn't do a hoop. First of all, hoops are often uncomfortable and when you sit, your dress will smack you in the face. Second, hoops don't really look natural with tulle. With a tulle dress, I'd buy a petticoat. It's just extra tulle to put under it.

I am wearing a ballgown, with a hoop skirt and also an 8 layer tulle crinoline under. My seamstress is sewing them together to make one giant crinoline. I just couldn't find one that was poofy enough that was under $200. I like the hoop one because it keeps the material off of my legs and I think I will stay cooler.

I'm doing a hoop skirt for my A-line dress. Actually, a petticoat with a hoop and additional layers of tulle. You could always take it off before the reception (at the same time you would bustle your train) if you're worried about sitting down.

Hoops today are super comfortable and collapse when you sit. I tried on a dress that had one and I loved it. So when I picked a different dress, I bought a separate hoop slip. It's lightweight, holds my dress out and allows my legs to move freely. LOVE it!
