Any 10/31/2020 couples out there?

We're playing around with our date and don't have anything booked yet. I just realized that the last Saturday in October 2020 is Halloween. We think we have the venue we want picked out and they don't take bookings more than 12 months out, so I know it's available. This venue limits you to 60 people for the ceremony if held from November to March, which is not an option. I will talk to the people with kids ahead of booking to check their temperature, but wonder what your thoughts are on having Halloween as a wedding/anniversary date? Would you go to a wedding on Halloween?

We are doing a halloween wedding as well. It's my favorite time of the year. Obviously I'm very biased, but I think you should go for it!

Personally, I wouldn’t go to a Halloween wedding (was actually invited to one that I didn’t attend), simply because I have young kids. They want to go trick or treating and dress up and hand out candy and take part in the holiday. So if kids are your worry, you may have a few couples not show up for that reason.

This is our date!!! We were conflicted on it too, but we aren’t big Halloween fans anyways, and don’t have many guests with young kids who would want to consider trick-or-treating (a lot of times this isn’t on the day of Halloween anyways). It was the only Saturday the venue we fell in love with had left, so we went for it! I think if you know your guests it can be totally fine. Ours will not be Halloween themed or anything either.

It's my favorite time of year as well, so we're really glad not to be getting married now in June. He wanted June, but changed for some extenuating reasons.

Yeah, I get that. If my second cousins that I grew up with won't come, I understand and that's ok. But if my two best friends with kids won't we'll consider a different date because I want them in the wedding. We'll see.

See that's what I thought too. In my sister's town, it's always the Friday night before Holloween. Also, it depends on who pitches a fit. Like I said to pp, if it's my extended family that are nice to have, I'm ok with them not coming. If it's people we want in the wedding, then we'll reconsider. I'm glad it worked out for you and you got the venue you wanted.
