Anxious bride

Sydney , on July 8, 2018 at 9:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3
31 days until my big day and I’m starting to feel quite anxious. Not because we’re getting married, but social anxiety. The idea of our closest friends and family (18 total) are coming out to Colorado, getting married in the Rocky Mountains in a meadow where random people are in a white dress walking down to a group of people, later eating at two different restaurants with my dress on sounds terrifying to me. I wish I was getting married in our local courthouse with a colorful dress and didn’t plan this whole thing lol. Any advice to bring me back to reality?

Well, It’s really a once in a lifetime thing and you will love looking back at the memories of what sounds like a beatiful venue and reception! I think as for the dress in public, I can’t think of a single person that would be thinking anything about you being out in your dress except positive things If you’re worried about that. You will inspire other future brides!

My advice is to focus on your husband and family that day. Try to be blind to others, because it’s YOUR day and it’s about your love and commitment to your husband

Hey, Sydney! I'm sorry you're feeling anxious! Smiley ups

If you don't mind me asking, do you typically struggle with social anxiety? Do you have any tricks up your sleeve that you typically use?

Holly is right- no one will have anything but positive thoughts about you in your dress! Friends, family, strangers...all good thoughts! It's about you, your fiance, your love for each other, and the beginning of the rest of your lives together! Smiley heart

One little thing I've resorted to in the past is keeping ice cubes around. Stay with me here! If you're anxious as you're about to make your entrance, grab an ice cube and hold on to it while it melts. It's a quick ,easy, discreet little grounding technique that is just enough of a little shock to your system that it'll distract you from what's going on around you. It sounds silly, but it works for me and I hope it works for you! Just give your fiance a head's up so he's not surprised by your chilly hands! Smiley winking
