Anxiety about Dress Alterations

Alecia, on January 1, 2019 at 9:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
I have to get my dress altered soon and I know the girl that’s gonna do my dress has done tons of dresses before but does anyone else or has anyone else had anxiety about your dress being messed up? How do you handle it?

    I think that's pretty normal. I mean you spend tons of money on a dress for one of the biggest days of your life, of course you want it to be perfect. All you can do is make sure you find someone who is experienced and has great reviews and trust them. They're professionals, I'm sure it will turn out great!

    YES. My fiance's aunt is doing it for me and she has experience, but that dress is my baby right now and an expensive baby at that and it makes me super nervous haha.

    I feel the exact way. I am afraid alterations will end up messing the dress. But as you said, they have tons of experience. So relax and trust it will be ok.

    I’m so terrified of this

    the first post I read on ww was a butchered dress :-{

    im having a custom made dress and hoping to avoid this but it will still be ruined without a bustle :-{

    lady making it is too far away for fittings...

    i havent decided what to do but am researching seamstresses like mad and seeking someone with a ton of experience and no bad reviews and I’m definitely willing to pay for the professional experience in this category lol

    Agreed. The place I bought my dress gave recommendations for four people in our area that they know and trust and I’m going with their list. I’ve just been having anxiety about it a lot recently. And I truly don’t know why or where it came from. I know I have to get my straps shortened and that’s what I’m most worried about because there are beads all over my straps 😩

    You know what because I’m so far out (16 months) I never really thought about this part of the process. My guess would be to have faith in your seamstress and be very clear about your expectations.

    That’s a good idea! I’m a little under 6 months now and never really thought about this either. This anxiety just came out of no where too. But yah I’ll def be asking for like the process she will do and stuff cause I have beads all over my straps and I don’t want them to break or whatever other nightmare could happen.

    If the dressmakers feel they’re trustworthy I would try to take peace of mind there

    im sure they would not recommend or associate people who are anything but awesome with their business
