Another Rsvp/hotel block dilemma

Cj, on September 13, 2021 at 11:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 8
I know I'm most likely overthinking this but urgh now I can't twist my mind out of it now! Any advice would be much appreciated!

So my rsvp is due this weekend but the last active block of my hotels is expiring on Weds since that is exactly a month before the start of the event. Most of our guests have either rsvped or booked their accommodations (without rsvp lol but that's different story), but there are some close friends that have done neither. Should I start reaching out to them like tmr to remind them of the hotel block? Or should I just let it sit since tech people had the invite for 4-5 weeks and well it's not really the rsvp deadline anyways. The location is popular but there are tech other hotels around still..

Oh and forgot to add, I guess I personally would prefer most people staying at the same location since we will be providing transportation so the fewer stops the better - I think for both planning and prob guest experience...

You can remind them about the room block. But hold off on asking about rsvps until the due date.

I would shoot a text to let them kno its expiring so that if they do miss it it will be on them to find their own accomedations.

They are adults of the miss the room block that is on them and not something you should be worrying about. They've had the info for a while now. This is a worry you shouldn't have to deal with. Unless you have a minimum for the hotel block and have. It met it yet.

I personally would remind them about the room block and I would mention the RSVP deadline as well!

I am very anti pestering people before the deadline haha HOWEVER, I think a lot of people fail to realize that blocks can expire or run out and that hotels fill up! Twice now I’ve experienced scenarios where couples have reached out to say something like “hey our hotel block is filling up so if you’re hoping to stay there get on it!” (Well prob more politely but you get the idea), and both times it was appreciated and encouraged us to book those rooms! Now that I’m thinking about it, I actually did the same reach out to my bridesmaids before the wedding because there were only a couple rooms left . It was a no pressure on rsvp but just if you’re hoping to stay here you should book soon bc it is filling up type group text

I sent an email to all guest a week before our block expired. I just reminded them that it was expiring. It is before our rsvp date so at the bottom of the email I added a friendly reminder to RSVP by x date.

Thank you all for the advice. It seems like overall doesn't hurt to reach out and let people know about the hotel block expiring. I'm suspecting these might be the same people I otherwise will have to follow up about rsvps in less than a week anyways so maybe this will act as a nodge!
