Another Messed up David Bridal story!!!!

Ronald&Kanedric's, on September 20, 2009 at 12:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

So I went to have alterations done on my dress, The seamstress was very nice and polite. So she tell me I need my dress hem $120, taken in a pinch just at the breast $ 65, bustle $ 35, and so on until my bill was at $285 Wow! I said for what, that's too darn much, so how about you take the hem off considering it cost the most, that was half of what I paid already plus the alteration that I had done when I had it let out by someone else. Ridiculous prices, you will end up buying another dress playing around with prices like that. My October Brides only 20 more days to go how exciting!lol

I got my dress there too, the alterations came out to around $220. I really didnt expect that much but at least they got it right. I didnt want to alter it elsewhere cause if it gets messed up they won't fix the dress for u.

I bought my dress there also, but luckily I didn't have to have them do the alterations. They wanted $100 something for the hem and I asked about putting a corsetted back in it and they wanted more then I paid for the dress. Luckily my MOH's grandma is really good at alterations and did it for free.

Yeah I had my alterations done there because it's where I bought the dress and they came out to $190 for the under bustle and for shortening the hem.. it was a little high I admit but I felt the most comfotrable taking it there in case there were any issues.

I dont know if it's all David'd Bridal, cause I bought my dress from Mariella Creations, and I pd $150... that included the bustle,(under not french) and the alterations for the breast area... I think it all depends on what you have to have done and if your dress has beading or so on.. I just think alterations are expensive period.. They should have least give a break after spending all that money on the dress itself

I am terrified to go to David's Bridal but the boutiques in my area went out of business and the only other one is 30 mins away and cost a fortune! plus DB has a dress I just love!

I got my dress at DB even though we had mishaps with my gf's dress just a few weeks b4 and one of the BM dresses was returned altered but the inner lining was ripped. They exchanged the BM's dress. But like most I don't know if i am going to get my dress altered there. they charged the BM's over 200 to alter their dresses i went elsewhere and only paid $50 for my alterations. So thats where I plan on taking my dress and my BM's dresses.

I know they cost tons for alterations. I'll have to get them done unfortunately .The dress I had to have is like a or two small. It was the last one they had in stock in my store, they were no longer selling them via their website and the nearest one in my size was damaged and located 3 states away.

The only thing that I say to you is to get the main things done by them because if they mess it up you get another dress, like the let out or bust. part done by them, but they go through the whole list of what needs to be alter on a dress and you end up needing everything done by the time they are finished, but I learned that, that's how the seamstress get there money because its a service and that's why there prices are so high.

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding a few months ago, and we got our dresses from Davids Bridal. 3 of the 6 bridesmaid had to return our dresses for new ones so make sure you order them well in advance! With my dress, they ordered the wrong size... another dress was longer on one side than the other and the 3rd was bumpy all down the side so they had to order us new dresses (which took another month to come in). I was not a big fan of them at all... I'm 5'9'' and needed extra length added to my dress and the girl told me they can't order longer lengths so it was ridiculously too short. Also, they charged 4 of the girls $130 for their dresses and the other 2 were charged $150... when asked about it the lady said they accidentally gave the other girls a discount... you'd think they would just go ahead and give everyone else a discount too, but nope they didnt!

Wow, now I am worried,, I am not goin to DB but doe alfred Angelos tend to do ok? My BM and MOH's all live in different states and getting seperates to fit everyone. I don't have worry about a him as I am needing added at least 3 inches just to make it long enough with shoes.
