Another hair/makeup dilemma

Fmv, on August 28, 2019 at 9:44 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 4
So if you saw my last post, i contacted a salon that took forever to call me back and when i went to pick up the wedding packet they gave me someone elses event info. So i moved on

I contacted another salon, they seem nice. They sent me a welcome packet in the mail that had all the info. It had an insert that listed prices
Then they had the contract- 100 deposit. 20% will be added onto any service. If an attendant decided to drop out after i registered them, that i would be responsible to pay for them...and the last line, it states prices are subject to change!!??
Isnt the point of a contract is to protect myself and to protect them and to also have it contracted on prices?
So if makeup is 75. What if day of they decide its 100.
Is this odd or is it just me?? Help!?

Hmmm, I have not dealt with this problem yet but I would contact them and ask a couple questions.. one of them being “I noticed on the bottom of the contract it says prices are subject to change.. I would like to ensure my prices will not change and if they do how much of a notice do you give your clients?” I hope that helps a little!

So they want you to pay 100% up front and then add 20% gratuity? The gratuity isn't abnormal, but 100% up front is not something I've seen. And the bit about prices subject to change is very strange. You are right, that is usually what a contract is for and would make me very wary. However, like the previous poster stated, all you can do is call and ask. They may have a rational answer. They may mean that if you decide to add-on or upgrade a service then the price will increase. But you won't know unless you ask.

Hey there! Sorry if my post was confusing.
They want $100 deposit to hold my day
20% gratituity will be added onto each attendants bills. Also if someone cancels after i sign the contract then the 100$ deposit will go towards then and i have to pay the rest.
As for the subject to change on prices kind of confused me. I totally understand the rest, but changing prices without notice is kind of upsetting

This sounds very similar to a makeup/hair salon I had reached out to as maid of honor for my brother's wedding. They wanted 50% of the contracted amount 30 days prior. They also said 20% gratuity would be automatically added to each person, if some was 30 minutes late they were considered a no show and whoever signed the contract was responsible if someone was a no show. They also wanted only one person's card on file which we weren't comfortable with especially because my sister isn't always the most responsibile and we didn't want to get stuck paying for her stuff. They also wanted to know a head of time how everyone was getting their hair styled and if you were getting an updo they required that your hair be cleaned, completely dry and have light styling product applied prior to arrival. They also said prices were sudjecy to change based upon style and length of time it took to style. Needless to say we didn't go with them.
