Another bride affected by this Corona thing

vttn, on March 12, 2020 at 12:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 2

I've been super sad I was even crying for a few days. I had spent so much time and efforts in planning for the wedding but it seems that 2020 has been just a crazy year! The wedding was set to be in June so that my sisters who are still in school in Asia can come and be by my side ( June should be when they have their summer holiday). But now because of schools in Asia being postponed, it's likely that their exams are gonna be postponed too and we just don't know if they could make it to the US in time for my wedding. Any other bride whose wedding is affected by this virus thing?

Honestly, I think all weddings are going to be affected by this. It will take months before there is any treatment, a year to a year and a half before there is a vaccine.

And we're not going to stop the increase in cases. However, slowing it is critical. If all the cases come at once early on, hospitals are going to lack room, staff, and equipment to handle them. Then we'll get into the situation Italy is in, in which they now have to stop giving treatment to people who are age 65 or over or otherwise in poor health. And we're not just talking treatment for coronavirus. People with heart attacks or strokes will be denied treatment, because they need the beds, the staff, and the ventilators for people with coronavirus.

So even if you personally are in a low-risk group, it's critical to take precautions so that you don't get it and help speed it along.

Churches are closing down. (All the Episcopal churches in the DC area are now closed.) Large events (or even unnecessary small events) are being canceled. People are being warned not to go on cruises. Older people (over age 60) are being warned not to go on airplanes.

So every wedding is going to be missing some guests. A lot of them will also have issues with venues, vendors, etc.

In any event, I'm sorry this has come along for you, at what should be a happy time.

I think we are going to find a TON of weddings & brides are going be affected by the virus. It's just going to be such a chain reaction of everything at least until the end of the year. Hang in there. It will get better soon!
