Anomalie Dress Disappointment

Jasmine, on January 28, 2020 at 9:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 56

So for the longest time I've been excited about finally seeing my dress come to life by getting it custom made through Anomalie. I wasn't having much luck with in store shopping but now I need to try it again because I'm pretty disappointed in my dress. I've already emailed them about getting a refund (their site swears by refunds). It just wasn't what I thought it was going to be. It was great in theory but I'm just not happy with it at all.

PLEASE NOTE: This is my personal experience and I am in no way bashing the company or what they do. I've seen and talked to other women who got their dress from Anomalie and they look beautiful. It just wasn't meant for me.

Oh no!!! I see what you're saying. Hopefully they can get you a refund. Is it the neckline that you don't like? Do you think it could possible be altered into what you want?

I'm sorry this didn't work out. I remember seeing your post about how excited you were for your dress. Does it resemble the sketch? I don't know anything about the company but something seems off with the lace at the neckline and the corset in the back. Since your wedding is about a year away, you still have time to find the dress of your dreams if this isn't it.

I was thinking about alteration ideas but I honestly don't believe it's salvageable. I don't want to have to put even more money doing more alterations than I really should need to, ya know?

The entire dress in general just seems like it was made for someone taller than me. I just want a dress that I love and do as minimal alterations.

Yea, it's definitely more than just the neckline. I had already went through the process with Anomalie when our wedding was supposed to be in August this year. Now that we had to change plans, I'm glad I have more time to try to look for a new dress.

Thank you! Guess it just wasn't meant to be with me. I'd probably raise hell if they try to fight me on getting my refund back considering that's their "guarantee". We'll see what happens.

Yeah, I get what you mean. There's just something off about the whole dress. The satin lines don't mesh with the lace, and the whole dress looks cheap. It feels like loosely chopped together pieces of material to kind of make an idea. But I see why you might want to start over. Just so you don't have to stress over changing it.

That’s definitely disappointing. But as I look at it, I feel like it’s salvageable and would be cute if the corset was removed and the back of the dress zipped all the way up, bringing the satin portions together. Then also remove the lace from the top so that it became strapless instead.

I do recall posts of your dress design. What part of it don’t you like? Can you post pics of the design again? I’m interested in seeing the drawing in comparison to what you actually received.

As you should. From the looks of it, that dress is not what you asked for, and not what they promised you. and that is a lot of money to be out.

I think it can be salvaged I think the dress itself is well done but where they cut the strips of fabric and started the neckline is a little off I would raise the strap on the waist higher to just under the breasts and also raise the neck strap so that the lace around the neck starts at a more elegant place on your chest and looks moresymmetrical! I think you have plenty of time and the concept is beautiful maybe it can just be tweaked and altered a little more perfect to your body now?

Exactly. I told my friends it looks and feels cheap but I left that part out when I emailed them about what I didn't like about the dress. I definitely made my point known though.

Possibly. I was thinking around the same line. I just absolutely refuse to have a strapless dress. Not that they aren't pretty, I'm just top heavy and never really cared to go for that kind of dress. It's not that the sketch doesn't necessarily match, I just don't like the overall feel as well.

Yea, it may look like the sketch a bit but definitely not the feel I was going for. I just rather get my refund and start over with a dress I love and have to worry about minimal alterations.

I think it has pretty elements, but I agree with you that it isn't well proportioned to your frame. The bodice looks too long in the torso for you. It might be salvageable if the top of the solid fabric could be brought up -- making the sheer lace portion shorter. In addition, the waistline is too low on you; if the bodice were raised it might bring the waist up enough, or that might need to be adjusted as well. I love the concept, and if it was better matched to your proportions, it would be awesome. I'm not familiar with the manufacturer, so I don't know if they pride themselves on custom made/fitted dresses, but I understand your disappointment because it just doesn't fit you well. Good luck! Smiley heart

I know alterations aren't cheap and I'm really not trying to spend more than I need to on them.

Oh no! I remember how excited you were in previous posts. I think you have time. If you can, take it to a seamstress and see how much can be done to get it fixed. I think it needs to be raised so that it doesn't feel so low. Also, the back is so low it's on your butt, so if the front is raised the back will too - they'll need to redo the back.

Just be happy you have all this time. I'm freaking out about mine...less than 1 month and I don't feel confident about the final alterations appointment.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I was trying to think of different alteration ideas but I think I'm just over it because I don't want to spend even more money on more alterations that what I would have needed size wise.

Yea, maybe. I was thinking about asking to see how much and then some. Get stuff removed, raised, etc. I'm just afraid of how much it'll come to. In hindsight I'd rather just get the refund and start fresh.

I had once and didn't have much luck. That was one reason why I ended up going with Anomalie. Now with this, I'm definitely going to give it another try and see if I can find anything.
