Announcing father and long term girlfriend at reception

Danielle, on May 22, 2013 at 10:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

My mom passed away in 2000 and my dad had been with his girlfriend for about 9 years. They aren't married or engaged but have lived together for a very long time and I got her a corsage since she's such a big part of my dads life and I don't want her to be left out even though she technically isn't my mother.

I asked her if she'd like to be introduced with my dad at the reception and she said that would mean a lot to her but I'm not sure how she should be announced. "Father of the bride ... and his date ....? Father of the bride and his girlfriend?

I need help here!!!

I just have to say I am in the exact same situation. My mom also passed away in 2000 and my dad has been with his girlfriend for 10 years. I am going to word it in the program as NAME Father of the Bride with honored guest

    NAME. Something like that.

Father of the bride John doe escorting Jane Smith. If you are still uncertain how you want it done and its getting close to the reception, ask you dj for suggestions. If they've been at it a while, they will probably have seen this situation before.

Yup, I agree with Paris, saying Mr. Joe Smith and Mrs. Jane Doe.
