Anniversary Moon

Arlene, on October 5, 2020 at 10:06 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 15

Sooo, when I was on here before I had asked if anyone was "skipping" a traditional honeymoon and planning to take a trip on their anniversary instead.

In light of this whole COVID situation, it seems all the more likely that FS and I will be doing exactly that. We had talked about it before and while he wanted to just do like a getaway weekend at first, we will more than likely just wait for our anniversary.

I actually like this idea because not only does it give you a chance to save more for a grander and perhaps longer getaway, I feel like you'll have more to celebrate after your first year of marriage, which people always say is the hardest year.

Was anyone else gonna do this originally? Like before there even was a COVID? Or are you considering it now that we have to deal with this issue?

My fiance and I are taking a long weekend trip after we get married. We are also saving our honeymoon, not necessarily for our anniversary but at least until COVID is more under control.

COVID has changed so many different plans for everyone. Where were you planning to go?

Yes I agree. We originally planned on going to Aruba but we really don't want to travel outside of the country right now.

    I hear you

I'm having opposite reservations about traveling because I've been in the VI since this outbreak and my FS has been in NY.

He's been to visit in July but honestly I'm still a little nervous about leaving here to go back with him after the wedding. But God is good and has been keeping us all healthy and safe so I know it will be okay.

I am also struggling with this thought! My FH and I originally wanted to take a trip to either Colorado or Orlando for our honeymoon, but have found this to be difficult with COVID and not having near enough time to prepare. It also doesn't help that our wedding is the Sunday before Christmas so it makes things a little bit more difficult! I think for the time being we might just settle on going somewhere just a few hours away and then plan something a little more extravagant for the summer of 2021. But as long as you and your loved one are together and healthy, that's all that matters! I wish ya'll the best of luck!! Smiley heart

From the beginning we planned to do a small honeymoon. We live in Florida and we’re going to Charleston for a week. After we hopefully get pregnant, then we’re taking a more indulgent, tropical vacation. We’re both women so it’s expensive to conceive so we wanted to make sure we had enough money for that before we had a big honeymoon.

We will be doing a smaller honeymoon as well and doing a larger trip for our one year anniversary/my graduation celebration (hopefully!)

    Thanks Allie!

We may be going to spend Thanksgiving with his family in TX so that will be a little getaway. I've never been so I'm looking forward to it. Plus my dad lives in TX and we've never met so FS and I may actually get to meet him.

Our original plan was to do a minimoon directly after the wedding and then a later bigger honeymoon. I just felt overwhelmed planning both a big trip and wedding. We still plan to do our original minimoon plan since we eloped this summer, but I am not sure if we will do our bigger trip after our big wedding next year or wait even longer.

Yeahhhhh, my FH and I were hoping to go to Japan in March and the country is 100% closed to international tourists right now, so we're almost definitely going to be doing it as an anniversary trip unless there's a sudden turnaround! It's been a dream trip for years now, so waiting one more year won't be too bad. Plus, we'll be able to save a bit more for it and maybe go for a bit longer!
We were initially thinking of going on a minimoon, but we'd really rather save most of the money for Japan. Instead, we'll be staying home and going to lots of local restaurants we've been hoping to go to!

    Hi Hi Ladies,

So it seems FS just realized that we'll be spending an entire week in St. Thomas, from arrival to departure. He was saying, "That's too long. Maybe we should've tried to squeeze in a trip somewhere." SMH

He owes me a trip to Puerto Rico and we had talked about hopping over there for the weekend after the wedding before, but they still have a lot of restrictions on visitors sooooo, looks like we'll just be beach hopping again.

Not that spending the day on the beach in the Caribbean in October will be such a bummer, right?Smiley sexy

So, we don’t have any big plans made yet, but I certainly have ideas and thoughts. Because I’m a school teacher and we’re getting married Oct 24, we can’t really take a big trip now even if COVID and budget weren’t also in the picture. That also said I, not necessarily planning something bigger for our anniversary, but I do want to do something bigger sometime in the next year.

We had decided on doing this prior to covid. We’re having a destination wedding in the US and will be spending a couple extra days there after the wedding just so we don’t have to be rushed. And we wanted to have time to save $$ for a trip we really wanted to take on our 1 year anniversary!

My FH and I had decided to do this after we found out I was pregnant. We were planning on a two week stay in New Orleans, and obviously that won’t be as fun if I’m bloated, cranky, and can’t drink. Our alternative was booking a three day stay at a spa and resort two hours away about a month after our wedding as both a mini moon/ last couples retreat before baby, and booking a beautiful beach house on a secluded coast a year after as our anniversary honeymoon/ first getaway from baby. It actually works out perfectly for us, especially because our wedding is more of a weekend affair and we were terrified we’d be too exhausted from the wedding to enjoy our honeymoon. This also allows us to use the funds people give us at the wedding to have a more elaborate “honeymoon”.
