Anniversary Date

Zoe, on February 17, 2020 at 1:24 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8
So we were thinking to do a justice of the peace and then later down the road do our ceremony. Which date would be our anniversary? Our office date we were wed or when we do our ceremony?

Whichever date you choose! My parents eloped on January 2nd and use that date as their anniversary, rather than July 5th which was their actual ceremony. But in the end, it's up to you and your FH. Technically your "true" wedding anniversary would be the legal wedding, but if you would rather celebrate your ceremony as your anniversary, I think that's completely up to you guys!

You can celebrate whenever you want, but I would find it odd to celebrate the day you had a party instead of the day you actually got married.

Completely agree with this. Your anniversary is the day you get married, not your reception date.

I absolutely agree. You can celebrate on your dating anniversary, your first kiss date, your reception, or any other day you choose. But, none of them are the day you got married so it would be unusual.

Your anniversary is the date you were legally married.

We were married by the justice of the peace on 9/20- we had our party on 9/22, we celebrate our anniversary on the 20th.
