Anniversary Dance Gift?

FaithTrust&PixieDust, on November 22, 2017 at 4:52 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

Hi everyone! We are doing an Anniversary Dance (like a little contest to find out which couple at our wedding has been married the longest) and our DJ suggested having a little gift for the "winners." FH and I are stumped as to what we could get - any ideas?? Thanks in advance! Smiley smile

I seen the couple gets to take a bouquet home, and I always think that is super sweet!

If you can get a toss bouquet from your florist you could use this as the gift. That's what I'm planning instead of the traditional bouquet toss.

I usually see the bride give her bouquet to the longest standing wife. This usually takes place of bouquet toss. I was going to do this, but my grandma passed not too long ago and I didn't want to exclude my grandpa. So, my only suggestion would to be aware of any recent widows/widowers.

Thanks, both of you. We are not doing a bouquet toss either so that might be a nice thing to do.

Thanks, Constance, we are in a similar situation and are definitely proceeding with caution!

I would get them a gift card so they can go out for dinner on their anniversary. If you have people traveling from out of town, get a VISA gift card so it can be used anywhere.

I have seen this done twice, the bouquet was given out. However, one was really sweet and adorable. But the other was really sad, an elderly woman (who I believed to be either the bride or groom's grandparent) was recently widowed and would have likely been the longest couple had her husband been alive. She cried the whole time.

I tried to do the anniversary dance, honestly I think most everyone was confused about what was going on. I wanted to do it instead of a bouquet toss, so I just gave the toss bouquet to the couple I figured had been together the longest since no one was moving off when the band was announcing the lengths of time.

We did but I think it was our DJ's first. His first bucket was 5 years which took out half the dance floor (we are 26 so our friends have not been married more than 5 years). Also I would suggest doing it early in the night. The couple we expected to win that were married 50+ years had left already so my parents won (sidenote their anniversary was the day before the wedding and they won because of that, but we probably would not have had an anniversary dance had we known that they would win). We gave them a toss bouquet.
