Animals as Guests

Emily, on December 7, 2019 at 8:41 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10
I have had three people as me if they can bring their pets with them to our wedding...yes, TO THE WEDDING, not just hanging out in the hotel while they go. I have said no to all three because I don't feel like it's the appropriate place to have your animal, unless it was medically necessary, which they are all not.

Have I missed a new trend on bringing animals as guests? It's not something I ever thought I'd have to discuss!!

LOL I am a dog owner and I love my dog but she will stay home and be memorialized via a cake topper. LOL. No trend except sometimes the dog is the ring bearer but that is up to the bride and groom. So sorry you had that questions x3.

I'm sure most venues wouldn't allow this anyways for Health Department reasons...I have NEVER heard of anyone asking to bring their pets with them! I love my dog, but I wouldn't even have the thought to bring him to someone else's wedding...

What?! Uh, no. I really can’t believe people and how self-absorbed they are. 🤦‍♀️ It is definitely not appropriate. You are correctomundo in your response.

That is the weirdest thing I've ever heard. I admit, i'm not an animal lover anyway, but ew. I would definitely not want animals at my wedding.

Perfect example of how "No" is a complete sentence and an appropriate response. I'm not a fan of the cultural shift where people think they can and should bring their animals everywhere they go. I understand legitimate service/comfort animals, but I'm pretty sure the loudly yapping Terrier in a grocery cart isn't really performing much of a service. (And, the idea that its rear end is all over a cart that the next shopper is going to put their groceries in completely grosses me out.) If a guest can't come without their pet, oh well! One less guest to pay for.

I missed that trend as well, as much as I respect and love animals, It’s unnecessary to bring them with you to a wedding.

Nope, it’s your wedding and less stress having animals running around by other guests and food etc

Omg preach! I saw a comfort animal at the airport take a poo and the lady tried to walk away...wonder what service that dog is for?

That is insane! Our dog was in our ceremony but she left after that and she is OUR dog. I've never heard of a guest asking that...
