Just Said Yes September 2022

And then life happened :(

So it’s been a rough month! My grandfather died suddenly last month! He was my father and took on this role when I was 2 weeks old. I have had to put a ton of money into the funeral and taking care of my grandmother and I had planned to cancel the wedding but everyone says not to. But I don’t know how I will pay for the wedding given the significant financial contribution I’ve had to made and still have to until things get ironed out. I had established a gofundme then one friend said it was not a good idea so I deleted it. Not really sure what to do! I’m absolutely ok with just doing something small especially because I’m not getting much help from my siblings with the exception of one of my sisters. Just don’t know where to go from here and I’m super stressed.

The wedding is September 6th, 2020.

And then life happened :( 1

I'm so sorry for your loss. I think it's good your wedding isn't for an entire year, so you can try to save & recoup the money you have spent due to his passing. I would just plan a much more casual wedding, and come up with a savings plan for you and your fiance to see what you'll be able to afford.

I am so sorry for your loss. You do have time to figure things out and I do hope it works out for you. I agree with PP that a plan might help get things rolling and could alleviate some of the worry too.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your dear grandfather! He sounds like a wonderful and kind man. I think it's fine to keep your current wedding date. You have plenty of wiggle room to make changes, cut down on costs, save extra money, etc. Sending you hugs Smiley heart

I’m so sorry for your loss hun! My wedding is next month and I just lost my grandfather a few days ago as well. Dealing with family stuff is difficult, since you have about a year until your wedding are you able to put off making your decision at least a few weeks or a month or so? Take it one day and one thing at a time and see where you’re at a little later. Thinking of you 💕

I’m so sorry for your loss Sara! Hugs to you and you’re right after receiving all of your advice I’ve given this burden to my bridal party to take the load off because I just can’t do both at the same time. I’m overwhelmed as it is.
Are you good to go for your wedding next month?

Thank you so much girl, hugs to you as well! Almost good to go for next month, although still a lot to do. FH has taken over a few things to help out while I’m out of town for the funeral

Awww my heart breaks for you ! sorry for your loss and I know its probably hard but wedding has to go on the back burner for a while. I wouldn't cancel it but give yourself a lil while to fully grieve and then you and FH put yourselves on a budget it will all work out.

Sad that you find out whose really in your corner when you are in need. But just plan something small and intimate. Somewhere local, maybe get married in nice park, landmark for if you belong to a church nothing huge and definitely do something for your grandfather at the wedding. I'm here if you need any cheap tips or ideas.
