An invite?

Melissa, on October 11, 2020 at 3:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
Hi all! I have an acquaintance that works at a bridal boutique. She has said she can’t wait to help me find my dress & has helped 2 of my best friends find theirs & given them a discount. I’d love to go to her because of her expertise and she knows me, but she’s not on the invite list. Since we aren’t that close and we are at our cap, we didn’t include her & her husband. I was not invited to their wedding... there’s also a slight past with her husband so we don’t feel they have a place at our wedding.. i don’t think she knows about the past either. Is it poor etiquette to go to her & not give them an invite?

You are not obligated to invite anyone especially if you have reached your cap. Sounds to me like you two are cool and she offered her help. Not sure if she is expecting an invite but I mean you did not invite her. If you can invite her and hubby that would be nice but not required.

She's a vendor, not a close friend. It is not poor etiquette to not give her an invite. You can still ask her help for dresses and purchase from her.

Not at all since she didn’t invite you to hers. I think she was just genuinely excited to participate plus she gets commission

You’re going to her for a professional service, not inviting her to dress shop with you as a friend. You have no obligation to invite her to your wedding.

No it's not poor etiquette, that's her job!
