Amazon Registry?!

Paige, on December 27, 2016 at 9:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 20

My fiancé wants to do a registry on Amazon. I am not 100% on board with the idea. For those that have registered on Amazon what did you think? Pros and cons? What are other thoughts about registering on Amazon?

Thanks!

It worked great for me, no issues at all.

I didn't do an Amazon registry for my wedding but I did for my baby shower and I loved it. We were able to register for items or colors/patterns that we couldn't find in the other store where we had registered and I think many times Amazon has better prices than in stores. I think a drawback is that you only have 6 months to return something (if I recall).

What are your concerns? My FH works at Amazon, so it was a no brainer for us.

It's so easy to use. Pretty straightforward process.

We are planning to do an amazon registry as well as target for those who don't like shopping online. I love that I can read reviews on amazon and have more options.

We used Amazon and it has worked out fairly well. There's one gift we've received that was supposed to be a magnetic spice rack but we were only given the magnetic board not the spice holders. Not entirely sure if that was an Amazon mistake or if the gift giver bought a few things at once and mistakenly put that in the gift bag instead of saving it to give at the wedding.

The only other issue is that my older relatives were unsure about ordering online but they just gave us Amazon gift cards to use.

Amazon is great! Just keep an eye out for them adding gift cards without you knowing

We have Amazon and love it, but we also have "traditional" ones at BBB and Target.

I just started one, I love that I can add items from other retailers, rather than having several different registries. We don't want much anyways so it'll be small Smiley smile I say go for it.

Amazon can be great, but Ive heard that sometimes they automatically add things to your registry (such as gift cards and promotional items).

0 issues with ours throughout the whole process, if we had to go back in time I wouldn't change a thing with it. So convenient and easy for two people to setup on their mobile devices-FH and I worked on registering gifts daily, together from our couch in our pajamas.

We didn't have any problems with Amazon. But I do recommend having another registry where people can shop in store as well. For my shower, all but one person used the Macy's registry. We didn't really get any Amazon gifts until around the week of our wedding, and many were from guests who were unable to attend the wedding. In that scenario, online shopping was easier for them.

I loved our amazon registry. Just make sure if you move that you update the address on the registry. We had to pay postage on a lot of our big gifts because the post office had to forward them (ended up being almost $90).

We're doing an amazon registry as well as target and Kohl's. We have a lot of out of town people coming so we figured having an amazon option would be nice for them. Hope this helps!

We have an amazon registry. I purchase everything I can from amazon with my prime account. It felt natural for me. Our wedding is a destination. I don't think people are going to care.

I love Amazon so I used it for our registry too. Only think I dont recommend getting from amazon is linens. I have bad experiences with bed sheets even when they have great reviews so I put that and bathroom stuff on my BBB list.

We had both an Amazon and BB&B registry. We didn't have any issues with Amazon (I think they added one gift card - as soon as I took it off, it stayed off), and I really like the "Thank You" section. It lists all of the gifts purchased from your registry and who bought them. This is great if an item or two didn't get recorded when opening gifts, or just to double check someone's address.

We have Amazon and Macys. Macys because some people like brick and mortar stores so needed an option. While most of my crowd is young and shops online, the gifts so far have been from Macys. I'm assuming people are choosing Macys because of the coupons that are always available unlike on Amazon - although for us we noticed priced on Amazon are cheaper overall. The biggest downfall I see with Amazon universal is that people would have to go back mark something as purchased if they buy it elsewhere. I can see people forgetting this and us ending up with multiples.
