In 2019, I picked my dress, veil, headpiece, and belt. I ordered them all together and placed a deposit. I was later informed that the deposit only went towards my dress, not the accessories. This was last year. We posted our original date due to COVID and I was assured I could still get the original items, so it wasn’t an issue.
Today, I went to my bridal store to pickup my veil, headpiece, and belt. I asked to check things before I left and I noticed the belt and headpiece were completely the wrong items. I showed it to the consultants and they agreed that it wasn’t correct. The manager told me “this is what was ordered.” And my consultant said she ordered something different than what was delivered. Either way, I ended up with the wrong items. Because those were from 2019, I can no longer get what I originally ordered. After spending hours at the salon, they told me they would order three belts that I could choose from (I liked all three, and it was all they could get in the correct color and on time for the wedding). They showed me their favorite, and they said it was more expensive than my original but it was okay because they would cover the difference.
When I tried on different headpieces, I found one I really liked. It was a total of about $100 over my original one. They told me they could give me the one I was holding in my hand, since it came in last week and only one other person had tried it on. I noticed one leg was wiggling and looked broken. They said it was not broken but loose, and they could have it fixed and given to me for the price I paid. I told them I did not want something that had already been broken in their store. They said if I wanted a brand new one, I would have to cover the cost. I don’t think I should have to cover the cost because the only reason I need a new headpiece is because either they or the designers messed up and I can no longer have the one I originally picked. I also liked two other ones that were cheaper, but they were no longer being made and I could only take the ones they had in store which had major signs of wear and tear. Should I just ask for my money back and look somewhere else, or are they right that I should either take the broken (fixed) one or cover the cost of a new one?
