Just Said Yes October 2022

Am i too late?

Samantha, on February 25, 2022 at 9:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
Our date is October 15, 2022 and I haven’t even booked appointments to try any dresses on yet. Mostly procrastinating it because I’m trying to loose a few more pounds first. But now I’m looking at some other discussions here and worrying that I’ve waited too long and if I decide to order something it may not come in time.

I don't think it's too late, but if you want to custom order a dress, I would definitely start looking ASAP. Otherwise, there are many shops that will allow you to buy a sample dress off the rack, and you'd have more time to shop if you plan on buying one off the rack. Happy dress shopping!

For a custom made wedding gown I think you're pushing it verging on too late. I'm a late September bride (last weekend of Sep) and was told to have mine in by the end of 2021 as they're taking about 9 months, not including the shipping delays we're experiencing. Even my bridesmaids were told to have theirs in already as those are taking 6 months. I agree with PP, you could do an off the rack dress and just have a bridal shop do minor alterations rather than a full custom gown!

For a standard bridal shop, we prefer 9-12 months, but I've seen turnarounds as quick as a month. That being said, the longer you wait, the more limited your options will be, and with the global situation being what it is, shipping times are likely to increase. You're not too late, but I would make an appointment ASAP if you're wanting to go the traditional route.

I would search asap. I’m getting married October as well and I got mine beginning of January and booked my appointments in December and I was pushing it a little. If you plan to order a dress they need time and Covid is making things longer. I still plan to lose weight as well and I’m going to get it altered

As long as your expectations are flexible, you are fine. I ordered some dresses from Azazie to try on at home, and had it in three weeks. Another two weeks for alterations and done. If you have a specific dress or designer in mind or are thinking custom, get to some shops girl!

Nope! But I would say start looking NOW! Most dresses take 6-8 months to come in. HOWEVER there are designers who can ship dresses within 6-8 WEEKS for situations like this.

It depends on where you go and what the designers shipping looks like or who you order from, I know I've looked at some small boutiques like Bella and Bloom Boutique who's turn around is pretty quick. I tried on dresses at a bridal shop and ordered the end of January and it is estimated to ship March 20th - Also what my bridal shop reccomeneded was calling the seamstress you want to go with (if not in house) In case any alterations need to be had immedietly following ordering your dress. Most shops also have off the rack dresses too that you can just take home right away- but those might have some minor inperfections from being tried on and such! Best of luck to you!
