Me and my fiancé have been clashing lately, he says I am planning too early out since our wedding is around a year and a half or two years away. Me and my fiancé have been clashing lately, he says I am planning too early out since our wedding is around a year and a half or two years away. I told him I just want to secure a Venue, Dj, and Photographer/Videographer now because good ones go fast and book up early for later dates. But he thinks I should wait till around 07/17/2020 to do this all. Except for the venue part he is all ok with putting down a deposit down for that now, but not the other things I want to secure. Am I trying to secure and obtain these vendors too early? I would love some advice, suggestions or anything that will be helpful!
thank you guys bunches 😊

I would wait. A lot can happen in 2 years, photographer could relocate, dj could move on to a different career, etc. The venue is maybe the only thing I’d book

I got engaged march 17, 2018 and getting married in may 2020. I started planning ASAP and got good deals but now 8 months to go and I wish I waited and reached my options and thought more about what we REALLY wanted and worked around that. If you both know exactly what u want plan whenever you want! It's too hard to be engaged and not start planning.

We just booked our venue for 6/19/2021
i was pushing to book it because it's june, and he was asking why i was in such a rush to book

i think it's nice to get at least the venue out of the way, then everything can fall into place

I still think I'm early on planning and the fiance thought so til I had to explain that some venues in December 2020 are already started to get booked so that's when he was like "oh okay well find a venue" but I'm waiting until this December to find a definite DJ, caterer, photographer, blah blah blah. I'll probably start looking at wedding dresses in February or March. I just feel, if I start planning too far ahead, things will get wonky fast. My god sister has horror stories about planning too far out and the DJ didn't write it down in his book, the photographer got a new phone and the date didn't switch over. And these were big time people who have been doing it for years and charging an arm and a leg. I'm waiting to get everything organized and set.
