So we didn’t actually pick our wedding day for any special reason I told my FH to look at the calendar and pick a date and 10.10.2020 is the random day he picked. So we didn’t actually pick our wedding day for any special reason I told my FH to look at the calendar and pick a date and 10.10.2020 is the random day he picked.

Well as of yesterday the University of Georgia released its 2020 football schedule. Turns out we are getting married during a football game. That’s a big no no here in the south!!! I’m freaking out and want to move the date...Here’s why:
1. I live and breath for football season it’s my favorite time of the year. I go to several games a year.
2. We are getting married close to the college traffic will be a nightmare
3. We’ve had people jokingly tell us they won’t show up if we get married on game day.
4. If anyone’s needs a hotel they will all be booked
5. I DO NOT want phones out during my wedding of people checking the game (I’ll be guilty of this)

Their off day is the 24th of October so it’s not like we will be pushing it too much. We haven’t sent out anything for the wedding no one but close family even knows the date. So would it be crazy for me to move the date because of a football game?! I’m freaking out a little

I live in Georgia and I completely understand. If you haven't sent anything out, it's so much easier to move it now, especially since you know the possible outcomes.

I’m honestly cutting it a little close for comfort to the end of the Stanley Cup finals with our June 19 wedding next year. I’m a die-hard Blackhawks fan, but with their current performance, I probably won’t have much to worry about 🙄. I totally get it though! If you haven’t officially announced the date, switch it up!

If you feel like it is for the best then I would do it. You don’t have to tell anyone why you wanted to change it if you don’t want to.

Also, 10/10 will be a very popular date to get married so a lot of vendors might be booked up already

No, it's not nuts. Given the hotel and traffic issues, alone, I would move the date.

And, to be very honest, FH and I chose an August date, partly because we had a faint hope our baseball team would make it to the postseason, and we didn't want to worry about an important game day of!! (Spoiler alert: we can't stop losing.)

I'd definitely move it. I live in Columbus, OH so I get the whole college football thing for sure. I don't watch the games but I know to stay away from within a few miles of the stadium for the day to avoid all the traffic. I have friends that won't go anywhere unless the game is on.

I would also move the date. I'm a huge football fan, and there's no way I could get married on a day the game was on. We also live in a college town and traffic and hotels would be an absolute nightmare.

I think it's a good idea to move. And I think you've already made up your mind too because you have a list of why you should but you really don't have any reason why to keep it. If I was you, I would talk it over with FH and it seems like you'll both want to move the date.

We didn’t want any mention of religion or “servitude” to a spouse during the ceremony.

We absolutely didnt want any line dances (we did have the Cupid shuffle for my sister’s fiancé) or country music during our reception. We also didn’t want any any American style barbecue for any of our food. My husband hates America BBQ and I can’t tolerate smoked meats or 90% of barbecue sauces. A lot of caterers wanted to have it for budget purposes 🙄 nopeeee

Girl! With Georgia football, I think you’re doing the right thing. Just for the traffic and hotel
    bookings alone.
I refused to get married during football season for that exact reason.

    Also GO DAWGS! 😂
