Am i behind?

Samantha, on January 28, 2020 at 2:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 21
Hi all!
Ive been reading some forums and glancing at wedding planners and im starting to feel like im behind :/ My wedding is August 30, 2020 and so far I have the venue, caterer, cake, photographer, and reverand. I have apt this week for DJ and end of Feb for florist. Bridal dress shopping this weekend. Idk. I feel like most people have their stuff booked so far in advance. I did my engagement photos almost 2 weeks ago- waiting for them this weekend to use for save the dates. I think im okay but im starting to feel the pressure. What do you all think? Am i super behind or am I just starting to feel the pressures of planning finally? Help please ladies!

Save the dates definitely need to be sent out soon. but other than that you are probably fine just starting to feel the pressure. As for your dress I think it may just depend on where you go and which ones they are able to order on time for alterations and what not I have seen some take long and others say they will take long and end up getting to you with in the month. I'm sure you are fine though.

I would say the only thing you might be slightly behind on is your dress! Other than that, I think you're doing fine! I'm August 1st and we haven't done our cake yet, so you're ahead of me on that Smiley winking. We have our DJ, reception hall, church, caterer, and just booked our block of hotel rooms. I've dyed my flowers -- just have to make the bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres. We are just finalizing our guest list to order invites soon (we didn't do STD)! Smiley smile

It is probably just the pressures of planning. Try to remember everybody goes at different paces for planning and it can depend on if you're DIYing things or not. Try not to stress too much and take things at your pace!!!

You have plenty of time. Our entire engagement is only 8 months long and I booked almost all of our vendors within the first two months of being engaged. I bought one dress from David's Bridal that I ended up taking back, but only took a month to come in. I bought another dress that was custom-sized from Azazie.com and that also only took a month to come in. If you have your heart set on a specific designer, I would definitely shop sooner rather than later, otherwise you can find a dress no problem. Save the dates should also be sent out as soon as you get your photos back for them (since you want to use them for the save the dates). You're not behind at all; before you know it, you'll be sitting back counting down the days feeling like there's nothing left for you to plan!

I think your dress and save the dates are the only two things you are really behind on. I would get your save the dates out as soon as possible. As for a dress, some can take anywhere from 9 months to year to come in depending on the designer so you might not have as many choices as you would have if you had gone sooner.

Other than your dress (which depending on where you're getting may or may not matter. It was going to take six to eight months for most of the dresses I looked at to come in)..you're in good shape. My wedding is February 22 and I didn't get engaged until mid July. Take a breathe

I think you’re fine! As long as you don’t want a custom dress or anything, you should be fine as long as you actually go this weekend and make a decision pretty quickly lol.

I didn’t even book my florist until 2 weeks before the wedding. While I don’t recommend procrastinating to that extent... everything was still fine 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sounds like you are on the right track, but get your vendors booked ASAP and get your dress too! I can take 6 months to get a wedding dress in. We are getting married in August too and sent out our save the dates at the beginning of January, so if you are doing save the dates, those should be going out now!

I feel you with the "Behind Feeling". My wedding is October 9th, 2020 and I feel so over whelmed with trying to find the best options for a very small wedding. I have been doing no stop research on different vendors at different price points to fit in our budget… I am finally going dress shopping this weekend too! I hope you find the dress of your dreams Smiley heart

I would say you are just fine honestly. I would get dress and florist done soon but it's for sure not a rush/panic moment yet.

My wedding a week after yours and save the dates are going out Friday which is plenty of time according to everything I've read up on. I would make getting a dress your next priority, you don't want to limit yourself on what could be available on time!

You are totally fine! I’m in the process of booking all vendors still and my wedding is in August as well. Although my wedding in a Sunday so vendors tend to me more available. Also my save the dates are going out soon but not yet. I would focus on getting a dress as sometimes it may takes months to come in.
