Alternatives to pew bows

LuckyinLove, on May 7, 2009 at 9:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Does anyone have any ideas for alternatives to pew bows? I thought about incorporating flowers and then somehow reusing them for the reception centerpieces. Though I am not sure if that is a good idea or not. All suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

I saw a picture using small white tin buckets filled with flowers and hung from the pews that were beautiful. You could also use baskets, hanging lanterns with fake candles if they wont allow real ones. This is all if you cant get stands for to set next to the pew. If you can get stands of some kind, you can use almost anything and maybe just add a little extra of some kind of hanging flower or ivy to hide the top of the stand or the container the later centerpiece is in.

I like the idea of lots of flowers and I definitely want candles everywhere. I have my heart set on a candlelit ceremony. To save money I want to be able to reuse them for some other part of the wedding because most of us can't afford a "Platinum Wedding".

I found pew cones. They are foam cones that are wrapped in ribbon and pinned in place and the top has flowers they can cascade down or be up you can do alot with those. I decided to do them with fall flowers coming out of top and cascading down a little. you can even hide those new little lights in them . The florist is being really great about the price because only a few stems but alot of filler to make them look beautiful.

I've used rented topiary trees (ficus, in this case) that had battery operated twinkle lights tucked deep in the foliage. each tree was veiled in white tulle and the had a color coordinated ribbon securing the tulle. They were about 3' tall and placed down the aisle at intervals. After the ceremony, they were transported to the reception site.

I create beautiful pomanders (flower balls) made with PRESERVED real hydrangeas, or roses and carnations, that are wonderful hanging from pews. They can then be gathered up and placed on the tables on top of any glass vase that has a curved, round shape ( not a bud vase) for instance. Please contact me via email and I will send you a photo. They are not on my website yet as I am working on a new website at this time. But please visit my website for more information about my preserved flowers. These are REAL flowers that are preserved by a special solution to last a long time with proper care, need no water and look and feel like fresh flowers. I ship nationwide. Love to hear from you. Good Luck. Liz Ann
