Alternatives to going down the aisle. Anyone awkward of going down the aisle thing? Stage Fright some here.

Jessica, on November 8, 2019 at 12:33 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 23

1. My father passed away when I was a child, so I can't do the whole traditional father walking daughter going down the aisle. 2. I'm not that traditional anyway, so I'm ok, but looking for alternatives. I like to be unique and eccentric and creative. I guess I just feel weird of walking (even though it's like 40 people maybe?) down aisle...all eyes on me. I feel the eyes should be on both of us. We were thinking of us walking down together OR both standing hiding somewhere and then whip out a light saber in front of people and battle.... sounds crazy, we've talked about a theme wedding like star wars haha. I want this to be fun and lighthearted! Please share if you have alternatives! Smiley smile

Maybe he could meet you at the top of the aisle and you could walk down together? That could be really sweet!

I know the star wars thing seems odd, but there's some here that want to do cosplay or themed or something. But yes, Me and him. Then my nephew and step son walking down together with our rings.

Are you having a wedding party? If so, maybe have your ladies walk with you and sort of block you from the view of your FH until the end of the aisle. Then, have them go to their place and he can come to you and you walk up the few steps together.

In my head I'm picturing three people with you... Two on the sides and one in front but obviously if your wedding party is smaller it would look different.

There is a member here who did a star wars wedding and it was really nice. I wish I remembered who she was though. ☹️

I guess that would mean a reception. So, the answer is yes! Since I won't be having a lot of people. Maybe 40? Not sure how they can block my view. I'm just looking into creative ideas and not making it too sappy, just upbeat and happy. Smiley smile

Sorry. Not a wedding party as in a reception. I meant wedding party as in bridesmaids, flower girl, maid of honor.

Oh no. No wedding party for me! I'm keeping it simple because some of the stuff seems over the top for me. I really don't need gifts from people. Just a gift from guests like cash?...not sure how to put that in polite way on a wedding website.

Don't ask for gifts on your website. Just skip the registry and your guests will get the hint. If they want to gift something they will default to cash. If they ask in person just say you aren't registered but you are saving up for a house, car, remodel, vacation...etc.

Literally that was the only thing stressing me out. Walking down the aisle and standing up in front of everyone. I had to pop a Xanax 😂 but my father passed away unexpectedly and tragically last year so I was also struggling with the fact he wouldn't be there. I feel for you and with you about your dad. It will be hard, believe me but you will get through it. My mom walked me down ❤

I have seen a lot of people on this forum talk about just being present at the altar already and then having the guest come in at take their seats

We didn’t have a wedding party and my hubby & I walked together! Comforting & even more great photos of us together.

Others brides said they walked half-way alone, met their betrothed, then walked the rest of the way together. That might be a cute option.

My mom being rather in the background or awkward. Don't think she would be down with this. But another comment said something about the man meeting halfway and going the rest. *tears* But I want super happiness of love here. A celebration of love is how I look at it! Smiley heart

And I think I replied already? Still new to the site, even though I made an account I'm not sure when. It's ironic, the day you married wasn't long ago...and feel free to take this down, but the anniversary of my dad's passing.

Oh my, that is ironic! There were a lot of little instances where I knew my dad was there. The day we got married actually ended up being a day before my parents got married. They got married Oct. 27th and we got married the 26th. Also, my dad loved golf. After a last minute mess up with our initial venue, we ended up booking a Golf and Country Club. We got married outside and there just happened to be a tournament that day. As soon we said I do and we were pronounced married, we heard a golfer tee off in the background. Everyone there heard it and knew it was my dad. ❤
