I love flowers, do not get me wrong. I am not judging others that choose to have flowers placed around their wedding. I personally cannot justify paying hundreds and thousands of dollars for flowers. I may add some fake flowers in the centerpieces, but I would prefer to keep the floral cost to a minimum. That being said, I am looking for creative and low cost alternatives to flowers. So far, I have found the idea of larger pinwheels for the bridesmaids to hold down the aisle to be rather unique and fun.

Any ideas for fun and unique/offbeat? (I do follow offbeatbride, so looking there still!)

Brooch bouquet, bouquet of paper flowers made from pages of a special book, feather bouquet for walking down the aisle. For decor, candles have a huge impact, feather arrangements, lanterns, branches with strands of pearls or crystals would all be beautiful. You could do a table runner of just greenery or greenery arrangement. There are lots of alternatives!

Personally, I'm thinking about doing only a few small flower arrangements, but mostly candles and some flower petals.

You can do floating candles of various heights, lanterns, glass bowls with colored water beads. There are several alternatives that will look nice that do not include large floral arrangements. Some people choose to do a single flower per table. All flowers do not have to be expensive. Florist consider your ideas and budget and see what they can do. Also grocers have been very popular lately for being more affordable. They also provide rentals so you don't need to purchase that many candle holders, glass jars, etc. Candelabras could also be nice depending on your formality and venue rules. I'm sure your venue may have some ideas or pictures you can use. Google and pinterest are my best friend for inspo, and instagram. Greenery is also a great option as its much cheaper and still provides nice decor.

Sure! Here's the best shot I have right now of the flowers, I used this website for the instructions https://www.capitolromance.com/2011/12/21/diy-tutorial-paper-roses-from-books-or-sheet-music/

I felt the same way about spending a ton of money on florals. We used very simple bouquets for our bridal party, which we then used as decor for our guest book table, and other areas of the cocktail hour. This option was much more affordable, doing 7 bouquets, 10 boutonnieres, 3 corsages, and my bouquet which was much more elaborate was under 600 dollars. We did candle centerpieces. We did not decorate the ceremony space, we got married in a synagogue and just left the space as it was. But if I was going to decorate it, I was going to keep with the same candle feel.

I agree with this ad week as most others. Wee did fake and spent about $70 on 4 bouquets, 6 bouts, 2 wrist, and petals to throw.

No problem! I was able to attach the flowers using floral pins to bouquet holders, and it was fairly easy! I used all Harry Potter, so you can always pick your favorite book or books to use too!

I totally understand where you are coming from because I was not ok with spend upward of $200 just from my flowers let alone for the rest of my bridal party and décor. I have a local farm stand that sells amazing wild flowers that are simply to beautiful for words. I went one day just to get them priced and my whole wedding party(ME, 7bridesmaids, 1jr, Groom, 6 groomsmen, 1 jr, our parents and ushers) the price was under $250.00. So maybe that would be another option. We are having a very large 400 people wedding so I am trying to find the best deals possible. And for center piece they have a lot of cute ideas with engagement phots as part so you wouldn't need as many fake flowers either.

I'm making crepe-paper floral centerpieces. They are time consuming, but are coming out beautiful!

I've looked into doing wooden flowers for the ceremony! You can either order premade bouquets on etsy or other sites (eco flowers, however, has horrible reviews so beware!) or there are sites where you can buy all the pieces (the sola wood flowers, stems, etc) separately and DIY bouquets.

I found some amazing silk flowers at Michael's on 80% clearance just after Halloween (We are getting married next October). For the centerpieces we are using Mason Jars (also on the same clearance sale) with sand or rocks (not decided 100% yet) and a butterfly. We are getting married in a beautiful park, so we thankfully don't have to decorate.

Are balloons an awful option? Idk. Not really classy or rustic, but could be fun. Let go of them after ceremony?
