Alternatives to cake?

Brooke, on February 5, 2020 at 8:34 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 26
I absolutely hate cake so we decided to go with an alternative. We've thought of mini pies for everyone but what else would be a good mix with pies!?

Ice cream sundae bar? People who don't like pie can have ice cream. People who like both can have pie a la mode.

You can go with your favorite dessert
I have seen donuts. Ice cream bar. Cupcakes. Cookies in various shapes. Pie. One even had fruit. So it all depends what you like

I’m not a big fan of pie so I’d vote ice cream sundae or even ice cream. Brownies, cookies, cake pops.

Thats a great idea I might do the same (bags to take home). A sheet cake comes w out venue and its delicious so obv we will keep that for cake lovers. Not sure if we get a small one to cut at all but there will be a display of specialty doughnuts and crumb cakes (husband LOOOVVVESSS crumbcakes)... our party is 9/26 so it will be fall type flavors

I don't care for cake either. We are having a small cutting cake just for the sentimental/photo aspect (we are skipping a lot of traditions like garter and bouquet toss, so I wanted at least a few "wedding" things wrapped into our day). Our main desserts are individual trifles and pots de creme.

I went to a wedding with an assortment of pies and it was awesome (pie > cake in all aspects). One wedding I was at just did cake pops. I've also seen people do ice cream (they get a little ice cream cart that is super cute), donuts, dessert bars with things like lemon bars, brownies, etc., or a candy bar. I don't think I've ever seen cookies at a wedding, but you could easily do that too.

I do think having some dessert is important, even if you aren't big dessert people, but it definitely doesn't have to be cake.

We did cookies, brownies, donuts, cake and cupcakes. I love wedding cake and would be super bummed to go to a wedding without some sort of cake or cupcakes.
