Alternative Wedding Songs...I am having the hardest time

I am having the hardest time picking songs to walk down the aisle to. I don't want anything cliche like a "here comes the bride" or the popular songs like the Christina Perri 1000 years. I would prefer something a little more alternative and (maybe) totally instrumental. I swear I listen to hundreds of songs this weekend, and found nothing. Anyone have any suggestions? or maybe a good place to look?

@m, I want to stay away from the traditional songs, but whether that means it is "non traditional" or "unique" really doesn't matter to me. Like I said before, we are both into heavier music, so my first thought was to have it be a song that is meaningful to us, but also appropriate for a wedding.

@sarah, I will definitely check them out. Thank you for the suggestion!

I'm actually walking down the aisle to an instrumental version of Sweet Child O' Mine. It's my favorite song and the lyrics are perfect (even though no lyrics in the instrument version).

My partner and I are both into a lot of punk and hardcore, too. Here are some songs we are playing at the reception, but sadly I couldn't think of any instrumental songs. I dunno if you'd consider them ceremony appropriate, though. Guess it depends on who you ask Smiley smile

"Sea of Love" by Cat Power (which I think would be really sweet and still please grandma); "Love you Forever" by DOTT; "Perfect Day" by Velvet Underground; "Never my Love" by the Association; "Another Girl Another Planet" by the Lonely Ones; "I Won't Share You" by the Smiths; "Secret Admirer" by Pissed Jeans; "Motivator" by the UK Subs; "100%" by Sonic Youth; "My Body's a Zombie for You" by Dead Mans Bones; "Love Song" by the Cure; "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" by the Smiths; "My Sunshine" by Ty Segall; "Punk Rock Girl" by the Dead Milkmen; "Train in Vain" by the Clash; "She's the One" by the Ramones (who have a lot of love songs!)

Vitamin String Quartet covers a lot of rock, metal, and alternative songs where grandma won't even know it's like, Pantera or something, and it will sound beautiful but will be 'you.' Check them out!

Try an instrumental version of "Beautiful in White". Very pretty song sang by West Life.

Con ti partiro (time to say goodbye) performed by Andrea Bocelli. It's not alternative but it is out of the norm. I'm doing an instrumental version.

I'm walking down to circle game by Joni Mitchell. That's pretty much the only song we have nailed down so far, 5 days to go

We're considering an acoustic version of Everlong by Foo Fighters, or First Day of My Life by Bright Eyes.

You can get the Bye Bye Baby soundtrack. It has lots of rock songs done in lullaby versions. You may find one that sounds Romantic.

I'm planning to pick something less traditional too. FH has his heart set on having a small but full band play for the ceremony (he's a band director and we're both band people) so I'm trying to find something good! I hate here comes the bride.

Are y'all planning live musicians or a DJ? If live- ask them, they may have some great suggestions!

@Flo... Know almost all of those songs (no...ALL of them)...I'm a big lyric fan and I ascribe tons of meaning when I hear songs... Train in Vain? I always think of that as a breakup song.
