Alternative to table runners?

Laura, on April 30, 2010 at 7:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I am thinking for my centerpieces that I am going to go with flowers...orange and yellow, just like the ladies and I will carry. My BM are going to be wearing green (clover from DB to be exact) and I am trying to figure out a way to bring in the green to the tables. My mom and I were talking and she said she could make table runners for us, but we figured out the cost and it is still well over $100. Does anyone have an idea that I could bring in the green in a cheaper way? BTW our table cloths will be white so I want to bring in the green to add more color. Thanks ladies Smiley smile

Hmm, what if you put some extra greenery in your centerpieces? Or a ribbon around the container? If you're doing programs, you could have them be green.

What about what you are putting your flowers in for the centerpieces? Vases? Bowls? You could try to find green ones or even get clear or white ones and paint or spray paint them green. Green paper napkins, you can probably find some online for cheap.

It depends what size tables you have.. I am using my left over chair sashes for runners on some of my tables. My chair sash is 9" wide so it will work and they are much cheaper than runners.

You can take cloth napkins open them up and set them like a diamond under your centerpiece. OR you can get some ferns (from outside or order.) and place some under your centerpiece.

Depending on how many tables you have, you might check out linentablecloth.com. They have excellent prices on table runners. We have 13 tables and I'll be spending less than $40 for table runners for all of them!

What's your theme? You can have fruit on the tables.... apples, pears, or limes in a vase or alone as "name cards".

Great ideas ladies. Linda, I don't really have a theme. The tables are round and seat 8-10. I am going to play around with the ideas all of you gave me. Thanks Smiley smile

We just had a dinner at church a couple of weeks ago and i ordered chair sashes from cvlinens.com. They have wide chair sashes that are 9.5 inches wide. Standard table runners are 12 inches wide so it's not far off. However their table runners aren't expensive either. The standard length is 108 inches so with a 90 round, you will still have a little bit of overlap on the sides.

@ladylee-You are my hero. The wide chair covers are just perfect. I did look at the table runners, but they are out of stock in the clover. That doesn't even matter because the wide chair covers are a great price and exactly what I want!I never even thought of using chair covers. Site bookmarked and I am going to order them soon. Thank you soooo much!
