Alternative to garter/bouquet toss

Samantha, on May 20, 2020 at 12:00 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 2 15
Hello! I just wanted to get some opinions on what you can do in replace of a garter/ bouquet toss. My FH is not too fond of looking under my dress in front of our friends and family (needless to say, neither am I!

We just skipped the tosses and replaced them with what guests really want, 10 more minutes of dancing. If you really want something to fill the time, you could do the anniversary dance?

We skipped the garter toss but I still tossed my bouquet— I just opened it up to all ladies (single, dating, engaged, or married) and a good group of 20ish ladies participated.

I also tossed my bouquet to all the ladies, almost everyone participated Smiley smile I feel the same way about the garter toss, so I put the garter just below my knee. He also put it on a football and threw it out to all the guys. A couple of my favorite pictures of the night are of all the dressed up guys fighting over a football lol. But you definitely don't have to do the tosses, or anything else, if you don't want to!

We're skipping both and not replacing them! I haven't been to many weddings within the last few years that have had them--no one missed them/asked about them Smiley smile

We just skipped them entirely and kept the dancing going.

At one point, I pulled aside some friends of ours who are engaged, and gave them my sample bouquet, but it wasn't an "event" during the night. Just a semi-private passing of the blessing.

We skipped them. I haven't seen a garter toss in years (probably because general consensus is that they're creepy), but bouquet tosses are still pretty popular around me. You can have 1 without the other if you want. We skipped both but did the anniversary dance. We knew my husband's grandparents would win and it was a super sweet moment. I gave his grandma my "toss" bouquet.

We skipped both as well and did an anniversary dance. Last couple standing got a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

We are replacing the garter and bouquet toss and doing an anniversary dance instead. The DJ will ask all the couples to come dance a special song and a minute into it he’ll say “now stay on the dance floor if you’ve been together longer than X years” and keep going higher and higher until only one couple remains. That couple will get the bouquet and a bottle of Crown Royal with the garter around it (plus a pic with the newlyweds holding their prizes). It’ll probably be to a golden oldie song like Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin.

We're not doing either and are not replacing the garter toss. Thinking of replacing the bouquet toss with the anniversary dance, as well, since we know it'll be my grandparents (been married almost 60 years!) and they are both very special to us and we want to honor the role models they've been for us.

We skipped both. Awkward and outdated traditions, we felt.

Skip them no reason to do something that makes you uncomfortable. If you guys are exciting you can toss your bouquet on the way out . totally up to you.
