Alternative to button down shirts no one will wear again

Brady's Mom, on May 23, 2017 at 5:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

Hi! So I’m getting married next month and I’m looking to get getting ready shirts. However, all the ones I’m finding are expensive and I know for a fact that no one would ever wear a monogrammed shirt or something that says a wedding title again. I already got really nice monogrammed robes as part of a gift for all the bridesmaids. (Not the only gift. Still working on that). Everyone is getting their hair done at a salon and then we’re all getting our makeup done at the venue, so I was thinking of giving them to people the night before. If I can’t find an alternative, then no biggie! I’m not attached to the idea. Just thought if anyone did something different than what I could find on Pinterest or Etsy, I’d love to hear about it. Thanks!

I'm doing plain light cotton plaid button downs - like a flannel but lighter fabric (girls in a red pattern, me in a white one). No monograms or anything else wedding. I'm giving them to the girls at the rehearsal dinner with their gifts.

I got tank tops that can easily be taken off without ruining hair and make up and after they are a good work out shirt or pj shirt

Target actually has some cute bridal pajamas. I'm hoping to get some sort of shirt/shorts combo.

I was actually thinking of getting my girls dip up hoodies. No monogram or anything just in a colour they'd all like and could wear again.

I'm interested in this topic, too. I really don't want anything emblazoned with MOH, BM, MOB, etc. I was originally thinking pjs, but we will need to go off site for one of our appointments, so not comfortable with that idea.

If you need shirts, what are the robes for? Also, if your BMs are wearing the robes for pictures, the robe is not a gift.

I'm doing short set pjs. Everyone can use pjs especially if you travel with people other than spouse

Oooo I like @susan's idea with the hoodie. Never would have thought that one. Ya hoodies and like simple sweatpants, yoga pants, or pj bottoms that match but aren't necessarily monogrammed (maybe just their names of you go that route? No BM/MOH etc)

I second @jessica's recommendation. If you're looking for more of a plaid/flannel shirt, Old Navy usually has really good deals on them.

    Thanks everyone for the advice!

@firstoneat56 the shirts were just an idea since we are all getting our hair done at a salon and makeup done at the venue. So the robes aren't practical to wear to and fro. The robes aren't for pictures. If people want to use them the day of, awesome! If we get pictues, great! If not, no big deal. I love robes, my sisters, who are also my MOHs, love robes. I just thought that would be a great part of a gift that's practical and useful. The only "requirement", if you can call it that is for everyone to show up (fingers crossed, on time), have their dress and shoes, and of course have an amazing time!

The pajamas might not work since we are traveling. For anyone else pondering this, I'm not getting matching shirts or anything like that. I've come to the conclusion it's a waste of money that could be better used elsewhere. I would love to do sweatshirts, but June in NYC can be hot and I think I would have a melted bridal party!

I was thinking of getting them at a thrift store so they will have that comfy worn feeling. And washing them like four times before I give them, lol. Also, I know this is kind of silly but I really hope that anyone who embroiders/paints/writes doesn't write "BM" and actually writes the whole thing out because BM stands or something veeeeeeery different in the medical world. Teehee.

I got them pajama sets with button up shirts. No embroidery or mention of the wedding on them so they can obv just use them as regular pajamas after the wedding.

Tank tops are definitely an option or oversized v-necks would work (that's what I'm using!)

I saw these tees I absolutely love! They probably stretch enough to get off easily. I saw it on one couples wedding on SomethingTurqouise.com

I did short sleeved, monogrammed v-neck t shirts (with their names only, no titles) from ArtsandSoles on Etsy since we had H/MU appointments at a salon. I ordered up a size to make it easier to take them off, but they run a little small anyway. $80 for 7 shirts, so if they don't wear them again, I'm ok with it.

I'm buying button down black with white piping pajama sets from Target and getting the pockets monogrammed with the girls' initials. It will cost $25 a piece and is way cheaper than buying from etsy. Call around and find a monogram store near you to get absolutely anything personalized.

I bought men's button ups from a department store on clearance. My girls are all in a different color gingham and I'm in a solid light purple (I'm not wearing a bra at all in my dress, so a white shirt for me was not practical since I'll be braless all day). 7 shirts and I spent less than $20/each.
