Alternative to Bridesmaid Flowers

Aubrey, on August 23, 2019 at 10:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Hey guys!

So I don’t want to drop $500 on bridesmaid flowers. The priest doesn’t let the girls stand on the alter and they are walking arm and arm with the boys down the aisle so they don’t really need them then. So during the ceremony they get very little airtime.

My photographer did advise that it is a little awkward with nothing in the girls hands on photos. She suggested pinwheels, which isn’t a bad idea, but I am looking for some alternative ideas as well!

Dis anyone else use something other than flowers?

You can always do a single flower instead of a whole bouquet. Another idea could be candles or lanterns. I’m not convinced it would be awkward to have nothing in their hands, but some might need to do what with them so they aren’t fidgety. But I agree that it’s not worth the money getting bridesmaid bouquets.

Personally, I couldn't bring myself to spend over a thousand dollars just on flowers. I ordered all of my flowers from Amazon for less than $200 (my bouquet, the bridesmaid bouquets, all corsages and boutonnieres). If you don't like the idea of all fake flowers, you could always just do their bouquets as fake flowers and still have all the others as real. I've also seen people do wreaths or clutches instead of bouquets!

I love the idea of lanterns, but also really like this new trend of hoops you can attach fake or real flowers to. Have you thought about making their bridesmaids gifts a small clutch to match their dresses that they could carry down the aisle? It should be an easy DIY project if you're crafty. I don't know that it will look odd without flowers, one arm will be in their escorts arm so that should remove any awkwardness in the photos.

My BMs are each carrying a single red rose. Each stem is going to have ribbon bow!

Cotton Candy puffs on a cone thing.

You could literally just buy a bouquet of whatever color roses the day before, keep them in a vase, and have them each carry 1 or 2.

They could hold those candle stick things that have a little handle/cup for the wax. Or find battery powered ones on Amazon.

I am doing a single flower with greenery for my bridesmaids, I have 8. It was only $20/each so a lot cheaper.

I'm using fake flowers for budget sake. I found beautiful bouquets on Amazon for under $20!!
If you want to go the non-flower route. I think pinwheels are a really cute idea!
