Alternative for bouquet toss

Tiffany & Charles, on August 28, 2019 at 9:24 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14

Hello everyone! I wanted to know if anyone did something in place of the bouquet toss? I heard of "dollar dance" and just wanted to pick your minds of what some of you guys have done or plan on doing Smiley smile

I plan on getting my bouquet done up in 2 pieces so when I do my speech at reception thanking our parent's I wanted to give one half to my mom and the other to my mother-n-law.

Thanks Tiff Smiley heart

I like that idea! I know some brides skip the bouquet/garter tosses altogether, they say their guests don't really miss it lol. I'm still on the fence on what I plan on doing.

I skipped the garter/bouquet toss. Instead, we did an anniversary dance. The DJ plays a song and invites all married couples onto the dance floor. Then they start picking people off, asking anyone who's been married less than x amount of time to step off. This continues until the longest married couple is on the dance floor alone. They then give a piece of advice for the newlyweds. It was extra special for us as it happened to be my husband's grandparents. I gave my toss bouquet to them.

We are just skipping the whole thing entirely. But you could find a low cost bouquet to throw on Amazon or Etsy if you wanted to throw something. You could also do something like a wedding game. Friends of ours had a "which bride" game where the MOH would read questions like "Who is most likely to go skinny dipping" and we would hold up paddle showing the side representing the one we thought would. The winner got a gift card but it was also a very small wedding.

We are skipping the garter and bouquet toss altogether and won't be doing anything in their places. The idea of splitting your bouquet up for the moms, that is very sweet.

We're still doing a bouquet toss (I made a bouquet specifically for it) but we're skipping the garter toss in lieu of the anniversary dance - FH is surprisingly excited about both

I'm doing a dollar dance and something called a Cake Pull.

It's a tradition not a lot of people heard of when I mentioned it to my family and vendors. You buy these small charms with ribbons attached to them. You can find them on Etsy. And your cake baker puts in the bottom layer of your cake so the ribbons stick out. Then at the time when you'd typically do a bouquet toss you call up the girls you'd like to participate and they all pick a ribbon and pull the charms out of the cake. Each charm has different meanings. There's a lot of choices too so if you have single friends or family members participating you can leave out charms that wouldn't apply to them.
