Alternating bridesmaid dresses

Kristie, on January 11, 2017 at 7:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I have been going back and forth between two bridesmaid dresses that my girls have all seen and liked. I have 6 bridesmaids and I was thinking I would just alternate the two dresses, every other one. The dresses are the same navy color, same length, similar neckline, and both feature silver bling on them which will tie in really nicely with my dress. But for the life of me, I cannot find any photos of this being done in real life. I chose the second dress because it is more flattering than the first pick on a couple of the girls. Now I don't know if it will look weird to "mix and match" if there are only two styles and they are pretty similar. Maybe I've way overthought this... ugh! Do any of you have pics of this idea?? Or tried it and found it doesn't work? Getting 6 girls in to try on at once has proven extremely difficult and so far, completely impossible!

Pictures would be helpful, but if they're as similar as you say I'm sure mixing and matching wouldn't be a problem.

I was going to do the same dress in two different colors and let my BMs choose which they prefer. All four chose the same color so we went with all the same and that settled that. Try asking them to chose? ETA: The said that they loved both colors but when it came to actually choosing one, they independently chose the same one!

I will be alternating colors but it will be the same dress. My colors are Mint and a light purple (davids bridal Bouquet color). I have gone to a wedding before where dresses were similar in color but not exactly the same, it was a little displeasing to the eye so be careful.

Not a good visual but my friend had us wear alternating dresses, but they were two colors. I'm not sure how similar dresses will be.

I've seen people do this with the brunettes in one color and blondes in another color. You can definitely do it! I think the dresses you chose should go well together.

Can't you just go to David's bridal with 2 of your bm's and have each put on a different dress?

Been trying to get two of them there at the same time for weeks. Hasn't worked out. The examples with two different colors are what I have been seeing, but I really want to see something where they are the same colors, and only two different styles. It seems like nobody does that - either there are 3 or more different styles in the same color, or they are different colors... probably have to keep trying to get at least a few of these girls together! Lol

Also the dresses are pretty close in price, and I already bought one of them for myself (for a cruise I'm going on lol), and can let one of the girls borrow it. At Davids one is quite a bit more expensive, but they sell it at Macy's too and we can use coupons there Smiley smile

I'm going to be honest and say I do not like those two dresses together. I like the idea of having the same color/fabric/length and different styles, but these do not look like they belong next to each other. They are totally different silhouettes, and it looks like they are made of different material which makes the colors look different.

I think the dresses are fine together. I should warn you though that getting everyone in alternating order for photos can be a nightmare. I was in a wedding like this and we spent a lot of time trying to make sure that we went: blush, ivory, blush, ivory.

I think part of me wasn't so sure they would go together well either... I think after some thought, I'm going to look into same color, same fabric, same length and let the girls pick their style.

Thanks for all the feedback! Smiley smile
