Altering a wedding veil length - is it possible?

Clare, on August 26, 2020 at 1:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3

Hi! I purchased a lovely veil that has a lace trim to match my wedding dress. It's a 60" waltz length. However, I am on the shorter side (63" tall) so I think I'd like to shorten it to actually hit closer to my knees or maybe even to my lower back and not have it be nearly floor length. My dress has a beautiful train, so I want to keep the veil's lace separate from the train's lace.

Has anyone done this before? Is this something a seamstress could do easily? If anyone has done this, please let me know how your's went!

My wedding dress has a lace appliqué trim that had to be removed by hand and sewn back on by hand, it cost me $200 to hem just that layer of the dress. You could definitely check with a seamstress- could they shorten from the other end maybe?

A veil should be very simple to alter. They would just need to take it off the comb and re attach the tulle to the comb at the desired length.

If there's an edge or trim to the veil like you mentioned it should be easy for them to shorten it! But it will definitely cost extra because veils are so delicate!
