Alterations

What is the average price of alterations? I just paid almost $400 for cups to be put in and a slight hem at bottom. What the world.

I hear you! My dress was a flat fee of $550. As many fittings as necessary were included and She did a lot of work … and my dress had multiple layers and intricate lace so it was very time consuming. I did get a quote from another seamstress, she was $400. So expensive though!!!

That’s pretty good compared to most alterations I hear about. I heard $700-$1000 is normal these days.
I paid about $450. First tailor didn’t help at all and charged me $150. Second tailor was amazing and actually knew what to do to make the dress comfortable- she charged $300.

I paid $1000... We had to do so much work to get it to fit me right, even after I ordered it custom sized... It was about what I was expecting though based on the fact that Mid dress had a lot of lace and boning and layers and all that jazz. But the pricing for alterations where I did them is a flat fee of $60/hour which is nice in terms of being able to get an idea of what to expect.

I paid about $500 for one dress to be taken in a little, add cups and a 9 point bustle. My other dress was about $700 taken in/down 2 sizes, add cups and a 5 point bustle. Alterations were more than I expected (two dresses was also not expected … long story short it was insurance)! No hems on either, I can’t imagine if I’d done that (both have details on bodice … lace and embroidery). Yikes. However they did a great job so at least that’s something.

Also worth noting i live in a small city. But I would guess prices are same in larger cities too.

Welll they can range from 150 as much as 800.00. It really depends on the amount of work the seamstress has to do. Mine were a hit costly because I had multiple gowns so it was approximately 700 per gown.
