Alterations

Sara, on July 29, 2019 at 2:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

How long should alterations take? I need to have about 2 inches taken off the bottom and she is going to widen my straps. I went for my first fitting/meeting on 6/26 and at that time she was going to do the bottom and then have me come back in to measure for the straps. It's a month later and I haven't heard anything. We are 46 days out from the wedding and I am starting to panic. Should they be taking this long??

At my first alterations appointment they said it usually takes about 2 weeks and my next appointment is 3 weeks from when the first one was.

I wouldn't panic yet but I would definitely try to get in touch and ask when you should come in again and see what's up.

I reached out today but I haven't heard back yet. August is so busy for us (3 birthdays plus a weekend vacation) that I want to make sure I have my alteration appointments scheduled. Definitely trying to not panic but man it's hard haha.

My first appointment was 2 weeks ago. I go for my follow up appointment tomorrow. I am having it hemmed a fair amount, the zipper shortened (I have a short torso Smiley xd ), and it taken in through my thighs, hips, and stomach. She is also sewing cups in for me so I do not have to wear a bra since my dress has an open back. After my follow up appointment tomorrow, she said I may or may not need 1 more before my final fitting which is 2 weeks before my wedding.

If I was in your situation, I would probably call and check on the status of the alterations. 1 month seems like a long time to me.

Well I reached out and she said "Oh, I was waiting for you to tell me when you can come back." Mind you there has been zero communication since I left her house in June. So I am slightly irritated. I have an appointment for next Thursday, I really hope everything looks good and goes smoothly.

Oy. Well, at least you got an appointment and will see your dress soon. Hope everything is right and you get to take your dress home!
