What was the cost of your wedding dress alterations and what all did you get done? I’m going for my first alterations appointment soon and curious what the average amount is.

I had limited work done on my dress but it came to around $300. Now I’m worried since we had to postpone the wedding, if I’ll need further alterations and how much that will cost...

Here is the break down. I got a discount because a friend of mine is altering her dress with this lady too. I am in CA, btw.

I had 12 bustles put in, and a little taken in on the sides around the bust area, and it was just under $300.

Mine was around $1000 in Southern California.

Had an 8-point bustle added, bra cups, taken in the waist and hips, shortened, had the laces details in the bodice shortened so that it was proportionate to my height.

Mine was $200 for the hem, $99 for the bustle, $40 for bra inserts and $20 for cap sleeves (or maybe $20 for the bra and $40 for the sleeves, it’s been so long I can’t remember).

I had my dress shortened by about 8 inches and the skirt was full of lace, so that was pretty costly. I also had the straps shortened and a bustle added, the total was $485 plus tip.

Eastern PA at DB, 500 after taxes for hem, take in bodice/hips/bust, add cups, add straps, 5pt bustle, sew on belt, add hook & eyes. I was quoted the same price in Hagerstown, MD DB as well

$400 plus tip--about 6 inches off the hem, multiple layers, added a corset back, added thin straps, switched out the belt for a better one. I'm in CA, but this was a friend of a friend, and she's a design student who's been doing alterations for about 15 years.

If you can find a private person, you often pay less than going through a name brand bridal boutique. A lot also depends on your area, I think.

Mine was like $1500 for the hem but they are doing it from like the hip area?, bustle, lining (because it has a see through back), adding a bra, taking in from the sides, adding straps. The straps were like $600 extra so about $2100 total.

I’m from western MI and I used a private seamstress who runs her own small business. In total it was $210 for shortening the bottom about six inches, adding some beading to the top, fixing the zipper/clasp, and adding a modesty panel

Mine was $163 in Missouri. All I had done was hemming the bottom, cups sewn in, and a 3 point bustle.
