Alterations for bridesmaids

Kelsey, on August 6, 2019 at 8:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 34
Hey ladies. So I went with my tonight to pick up my wedding dress! It was super exciting and looks great. Will post a pic once my mom sends me them. While at the shop we were looking at dresses for her and glanced at bridesmaid dresses. At that time my mom told me, my cousin who is a bridesmaid. Told my mom that she is concerned about the cost of alterations if they buy dresses from azazie. My cousin told my mom if they buy from David's bridal they do alterations for free. Now this is where I need help, from what i know that is not true?

Definitely not true, I’ve bought a ton of bridesmaid dresses from David’s. I picked azazie for my girls so they could do the custom sizing if they wanted and wouldn’t need alterations.

Thank you! I knew it wasn't true. But I wanted to make sure. That was another reason I wanted to go with azazie.

Yeah and I’ve read a lot of posts on here about David’s Bridal being more expensive for alterations than a local seamstress.

Yeah same here. I'm just frustrated right now because I finally had a group of 7 dresses picked out for my 3 girls to pick from. Now my mom wants to go David's bridal which is like 2 hours away from me.

I love azazie! I told my bridesmaids that they do custom order but only one took up that part and everyone just wanted to do alterations themselves.

One of my bridesmaids did custom sizing through Azazie and her dress fits perfectly.

Exactly. If I could get away with it I would just not tell my mom. But my cousin will probably tell my mom anyway.

Honestly I’m gonna try to say this the right way. I think it’s kind to think about your girls & their situations financial or otherwise. At the same time it is a given that there are obligations that you commit to fulfilling when agreeing to be a bridesmaid. If you know you absolutely can’t afford to be in someone’s wedding you shouldn’t say yes to being in it. Just decide what style and/or color of dress you want and ask your girls to order it and then they can take it wherever they go to get alterations. That’s what I’m gonna do. Im gonna get swatches from David’s and Azazie and go from there.

David's Bridal would probably laugh if someone wanted free alterations from them Smiley laugh Azazie's free custom sizing eliminates the need for alterations!

Just a note about Azazie. If you go with their custom sizes and you still end up needing alterations, they reimburse you up to a certain amount. Just gotta provide the proof.

Exactly! I think what gets me even more is my mom and my uncle, my cousins dad is literally paying for her hotel, we are paying for hair, I bought their jewelry. So she just needs to get the dress. I told them I dont care about shoes, just black thinking everyone has black flats, heels, wedges or sandals.

My bride has been good. She let us decide what dress we wanted in a specific color, shoes have to be silver & on wedding day she understands me paying for my hair but do my own makeup.

Haha right! And if you go to a smaller place or local place for alterations they are normally cheaper too
