Alterations at David’s Bridal

DressAlterations at David’s Bridal 1

This pic is my dress (totally not on me obviously 😂). I’m 5’1”, so I have to have it hemmed up, the shoulders adjusted to fit, and cups put in. It fits in the waist so I don’t have to have it taken in. I’m getting the alterations done at David’s Bridal where I got it. Anyone have experience with them and willing to share the cost of their alterations (especially if you have a dress in a similar cut)TIA!

My first alterations is on Tuesday. I only need a hem and cups put in, so I’m curious as well!

My dress was only $200 on clearance so I’m hoping the alterations aren’t more than that!

I had a great experience. I’m 4’11” and had 5 layers. The bustle was $100, hem was $200, cups were $20 and cap sleeves $39

Ok I just got back from my first fitting.

I’m 5’4” wearing 4” heels. The dress has 3 layers (2 which are tulle).
I got a size 4, but the lady said I should have gotten a size 2. Unfortunately, that would have taken months to receive so getting size 4 was my safest option.
Taking in neckline $45Taking up shoulders (cause I’m still short!) $35Take in seams $65Reshape arm hole (cause taking up shoulders) $20Hem $150Take in side seams $60Bustle $50Add cups $20
It was quite a hefty price considering I didn’t want to spend much on my dress. My mom ended up gifting me the dress so alterations are on me, and still it’s a lot!
I did learn that one shouldn’t hem the back. I wanted to completely hem the back and the seamstress told me not to, that I would regret it. Also, if they hem the back it would cost the same as the front hem so it would have been an additional $150 vs the bustle $50 which they recommended.

Thanks!! I appreciate you!! It does seem like a lot...my dress was $200 on clearance and I’m going to spend more on alterations, which sucks haha!

I don’t have a train and it fits me in the waist/hips/bust, so hopefully it won’t be too bad.

Good luck! I was hoping it would only cost $200, but it was more than double with tax. My mom spent $450 on my dress and it was on sale too! I guess this is the price we pay to feel like a princess on our wedding date.
My FH only spent $100 on his attire, and he won’t need alterations :/
