Alterations and undergarments?!

hippymndy, on October 19, 2017 at 8:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I’ve been searching for a seamstress to alter my dress. I think I may have found one for when i’m ready but she told me I needed undergarments when I do my measurements. Is there anything special to get under a wedding dress?! I guess I just assumed i would go braless with some decent panties haha.

I’m also going from zipper to corset. Anyone went this route? I’m hoping it’ll help hold things up as i’m pretty flat chested and my dress is quite heavy not to mention the fluctuation in my weight i’d like a little wiggle room (literally)!

It really depends on your dress.

My dress has a fairly low back so she had to sew in bra cups. You also might want to consider any shoes if you are doing heels etc.

We spent the $ on nice corset bra, which saved us the hundreds it would have cost to add the corset back. Bra was about $80 but that alteration was estimated at over $300.

She also mentioned shoes to bring which i planned on getting sooner than later anyways just to cross it off the list and break in in my spare time. my dress is strapless with a sweetheart neckline and about mid back id say. the form of the dress now actually leaves space when i pull it against my body so cups might be a must just to give me a little something hahaha

Corset bra? she gave me an estimate of $125 for the corset plus whatever fabric needed.

You are way too early for alterations. Plan to go to your first appt 2 months prior (maximum). Everyone's body fluctuates over the course of a year.

I bought my dress one year out. Without even trying, I lost about a size due to stress. I'm not wearing a bra. I do have cups but with my dress we're just tucking them in rather than sewing. My dress is bustled to accommodate my shoes.

I'm got my dress converted from zipper to corset and they told me to not wear a bra because the corset does enough as it is and they will be adding cups. So pretty much the only undergarments you need is some comfy underwear.

Definitely waiting a few but i’m extremely indecisive on the rest hence the post. ill flip flop between shoe styles, bra and no bra for months while tediously googling and shopping. i certainly need to lose some weight but that’s been more of a challenge than anything.
